Faerie Lessons Prologue
Prologue
A fairy tale is used in order to evoke children's imaginations in a way not to be understood by anyone but children. Even as a child Kaitan disliked hearing fairy tales, so it wasn't a surprise that he wasn’t to fond of them even now that he didn’t believe in fairy tales involving mythical creatures doing mischievous things, princes saving princesses, heroes saving damsels in distress, and heroines falling in love with the wrong guy, it was just endless and the list kept growing much to his dismay. Who needs fairy tales? They weren't real and their endings weren't really happy either. People who believed in fairy tales in his eyes needed a serious reality check. Sure fairy tales taught young children lessons and morals that they need in life, but isn't that what preschool and kindergarten was for? To teach you lessons and morals that you needed to survive in the real world.
Kaitan refused to even consider it, since people chose to teach children lessons and morals through lies and deceit which were fairy tales, to him it was like adults were poisoning young children's minds with the false security of make believe deeds of people and mythical beings that did not ever exist nor will ever exist in the real world, and in doing so causes not just the child's mind but everyone else's mind to fall into disequilibrium. Well, that's what he thought until he started to live in one...
It all started with his usual routine which consisted of him randomly picking a fairy tale or mythical creature into which to debunk and reporting his findings to his friend Feir, who much to Kaitan’s dismay believed in fairy tales and mythical creatures. Everyone around the two of them kept wondering why the two of them were friends and why seventeen year olds in their last year of high school were debating whether or not fairy tales, and mythical creatures existed or not.
The two teens were currently in their home room sitting in the very back of the class room, Feir was sitting at a desk next to a window which he currently gazing out the window with a far away look on his face. Kaitan sat in front of Feir on top of the desk letting his legs hang over. “So this time I'm going to prove to you once and for all that fairy tales, and mythical creatures don't ex-”, he stopped talking when he noticed that Feir wasn't even listening to him, instead he was gazing out the window with a far away look on his face. Kaitan took a moment to survey his friend, Feir was a pretty good looking guy in his opinion. Even Kaitan had to admit that much even though he himself is a guy. Feir had long black hair that reached a little bit below his shoulders, hazel colored eyes, and light colored skin. As an afterthought Kaitan noted that he was just a little to perfect, standing at five foot eleven he had a body that was lean but not to lean, muscle but not too much muscle, his light skin was light without being to light, teeth that were perfectly white and straight, not that he ever smiled..well he only seemed to look happy when ever he would talk to him about fairy tales, and try to get him to believe in them, Kaitan frowned.
Kaitan had befriended Feir in his Junior year of high school, when Feir had transferred in to his school a month after school had officially started. With the looks that Feir possessed he could have easily have become the most popular guy at school..but Feir's eccentric behavior, and ideals caused him to be labeled as a scapegoat. No one would partner up with Feir for class projects, and since Kaitan himself had arrived to class late, he was forced to be his partner for or the project that was assigned. Even though he had been forced to be Feir's partner for the most part he enjoyed his company except when he opened his mouth up about fairy tales and mythical creatures. When ever he brought the subject up Kaitan would immediately end up in a heated debate with him...and so through those heated debates, the two teenaged males had become close friends, despite their differences.
Even though Kaitan and Feir have been friends for a little bit over a year now, Kaitan still didn’t know that much about Feir other than the fact that he's the same age as himself, lives alone, works, and likes anything to deal with fantasy/supernatural. Feir refused to talk to him about his family, where he lived and went to school before transferring to this school, and the reason why he had transferred to this school in the first place. Now that he had thought about it, everything about Feir is strange, *I wonder why he feels that he needs to be secretive, even to me*. Kaitan shifted positions in order to face Feir to ask him that very question.
“Feir... hey Feir?...HEY FEIR!”, to Kaitan’s dismay his friend still wasn't listening, but he did get weird looks from his fellow home room mates which consisted of nothing but dirty looks directed towards him.
“Direct your dirty looks else where because it doesn't effect me in the least”, Kaitan dismissed them and stood up off his desk and walked over to poke Feir to get him out of what ever day dream he was in when he decided to grace Kaitan with his voice, note the sarcasm.
“Kai do you believe in faeries?”.
Kaitan couldn't hear him, “I'm sorry what did you say?.”
“Do you believe in faeries?”.
“Feir what the hell kind of question is that?, you know the answer is no”, he frowned at him. *What the heck was wrong with him?, he knows that I hate fairy tales and that I didn't believe in them or mythical creatures*. he already found it quite odd that his seventeen year old friend still believed in them, were are both in high school in the name that is all holy what was wrong with the guy?
Feir didn't answer him though, he went back to gazing out the window and Kaitan couldn't even press the matter further because at that moment the home room teacher had come in and unfortunately scolded Kaitan for not sitting in his seat. He made a mental note to finish that discussion with Feir after school and took a seat at his desk.
“And let the torture of school begin”, Kaitan muttered under his breath.
Many agonizing hours later the bell rang signaling that school was over for the school day to come to an end, and Kaitan hastily picked up his backpack and ran out the door to go wait at Feir's locker. He stood there waiting patiently for Feir to show up for half an hour before he decided to go home, when he finally did get home he threw his backpack on the floor of his room causing a loud thud to be heard from the heavy contents of it. Kaitan threw himself on his bed so that he was laying on his stomach, and his legs were dangling off the edge of the bed. He moved his arm over to the bedside table and picked up his phone to call Feir. He was going to have a long talk to Feir about ditching his only friend, without a single word as to why he had to leave without him.
Kaitan patiently waited for Feir to pick up the phone but he never did ,all he got was the answering machine. He wondered what was up, he couldn't possibly be with family because as far as he knew he had none which is what he told him. Kaitan bit the bottom of his lip in worry he had a bad feeling about this. He decided o shrug off the worry, maybe something came up at work, and he had to go in immediately after school and just didn't mention it to him, which was slightly odd to in his eyes. Feir is his own individual and he didn't have to tell him everything, nor was he his boyfriend, not that Kaitan wanted Feir for a boyfriend...after all *I like girls, not guys* . “I shouldn't worry about him. He can take care of himself. He'll be okay right? I'll see him tomorrow morning sitting in his sat day dreaming during home room”. These thoughts consumed him the entire night while tears started to pour out of his eyes unconsciously. *Why am I crying?, there’s no way that I like Feir like that*, Kaitan found himself crying his self to sleep. Never in Kaitan’s wildest imagination did he think that Feir would disappear from his life completely as if he had dropped off the face of the planet.
