Legacy
Alexia Winters strolled into Legacy, a local club in White Rose, Michigan. She adjusted her black dress for the twentieth time in the last hour. I could just kill Bethany for making me wear this low cut dress, Alexia thought to herself, Of course it really does accentuate my modest breasts. What am I thinking? I do not care WHAT Bethany says. I am NOT in desperate need of a man. I'm actually fine with my life. Stopping her argument with herself, Alexia looks around the room. It was a typical Friday night at Legacy. On the dance floor men and women of all shapes and sizes where dancing with each other, at the bar people where ordering drinks. She turned around, and her gaze collided with the most gorgeous hazel eyes she had ever seen. Underneath those eyes was an equally gorgeous smile.
Tearing her gaze away from those eyes, Alexia took in every feature of his body. His black sleeveless shirt was stretched over his well-defined chest and stomach. The shirt was tucked into his blue jeans which hugged his hips and thighs. He had jet black spiked hair. Oh my, he sure makes a beautiful package, she thought to herself. Realizing that he was also staring at her Alexia felt suddenly very self-conscious about how her black dress clung to every curve of her body. She slowly began to twist some of her waste length blonde hair around her fingers.
Lucas Osborne saw the way the beautiful blonde was checking him out. He made no move to hide the fact that he was taking in her beauty. He was enjoying the way that little black dress was hugging her every curve. To him she just didn't seem to be the type to wear something that showed off more leg than it covered up, not that he was complaining. He'd bet his last dollar that one of her friends made her wear that dress, not that he would ever ask. She was still staring at him. Lucas smiled at the blonde and began to make his way over to her. He said nothing until he was right next to her, "Hi."
"Hi." What a beautiful voice she has, thought Lucas.
"I'm Lucas Osborne; what's your name?"
She smiled brilliantly, "I'm Alexia Winters."
"That is a really pretty name." He asked.
"Thank you." Alexia said with a blush.
"Would you like to sit down with me and talk?"
"That would be great."
"Alright Alexia, follow me I see and empty table."
Lucas took her hand in his, as he lead her to the empty table. Alexia noticed that he held her chair for her as she sat down. Well at least he is well mannered, she thought. "Is there anything that you would like to know?" she asked.
He thought for a moment and said, "Actually there was something that I've been wondering about, but it's probably too personal."
"Well, the only way to find out if I think it's too personal is to ask. So ask away."
"While we were watching each other, I couldn't help but think that you just don't seem the type to be wearing that dress. So I guessed that one of your friends made your wear it. Am I right?"
"Yes, you're right on both accounts. I don't usually wear stuff like this dress, and my friend Bethany made me wear it. She seems to think that I study too much, and that I need to get out more often, have some fun and find a man." She replies smiling.
Lucas was silent for a moment. Contemplating what she'd just said. When he spoke he sounded rather serious, "Alexia, is she right? Do you study too much?"
"I'll admit I do study most of the time, but right now college is the most important thing in my life."
"Fair enough. So what's you major?"
"Marine Biology," Alexia replied proudly.
"Really? Marine Biology? Why so?" Wow, for once I don't have to fake interest in what a woman is saying, he thought, I am actually interested.
"Mainly, because I have a great love for the ocean, and all of the animals that live in it. Also, I think that someone's career should be something they will enjoy, or else life would be really boring. How about you? Are you in college?"
"No, I'm not, and if I were I would just be struggling. I am not sure what I want to do for a career at this point in my life. I am just trying to figure out what I want, I guess."
Three hours later Lucas looked at his watch, and said, "Oh goodness, I didn't realize that it was getting so late. I'd better be going. I got to go to work in the morning. Can I call you some time?"
"Of course," Alexia grabbed a pen from her purse, and wrote her number on the palm of his hand. "There you go."
"Can I walk you to your car?"
"Sure," she followed him out through the Legacy crowd. She smiled as he held the door for her. I can certainly get used to this, she thought. At the door of her 1998 V. W. Beetle, Alexia said, "I had a wonderful time Lucas. Thank you."
"But all we did was talk."
"Trust me it was one of the best conversations that I have had with someone who isn't one of my close friends."
"I'm glad that you enjoyed taking with me."
Still standing next the her car she thought, I don't want this evening to end yet. She said, "Well I guess I better be going."
"Yeah, me too." Lucas leaned in, and kissed Alexia on the cheek. "I'll call you Alexia. It might be a few days, but I will call you." He opened her door, and saw her into the car. "You drive safely now."
"I will. Thanks again for a great evening." She said starting her car.
"No problem. I had fun too." Lucas stood there watching her car pull out of Legacy's parking lot. As he watched her car disappear he thought to himself, Man she is one beautiful woman. I will have to make sure to call her for a date sometime in the next few days. He got into his 1996 Ford truck, and drove home, thinking about Alexia the whole way.
He unlocked his door. Inside the front hall he kept his ears tuned for the squeals of his guinea pigs, Oreo and Cookie. Hearing their contented grunts, he went down the hall, and into the guinea pigs room. Sitting down next to their hand built cage he whispered, "Oreo, Cookie, how are my babies tonight?" Lucas laughed at their reaction to his voice, "Ok, babies, I guess it's time for you guys to come out and play." When he opened up the cage door they came tumbling out. Lucas sat back watching as Oreo and Cookie played.
Two days later Alexia was in her dorm room, studying for a huge test in her Marine Biology class. She was deeply in to her studies, when the phone rang. Alexia smiled as she picked up the phone, hoping that is was Lucas, "Hello."
"Hi, is Alexia there?"
Alexia smiled, she knew at once that it was Lucas, "This is she."
"Oh, hi Alexia, this is Lucas Osborne. We met at Legacy the other night."
"Oh, hello Lucas. How may I help you?" She said with a smile.
"Well, I was wondering, if you aren't busy of course. What I am trying to say is would you like to go out with me tonight?"
"Yes, I will go out with you Lucas. I could really use a break from all the studying that I have been doing, and I would really like to see you again. I had a wonderful time the other night."
"Yeah, so did I. How about I pick you up in and hour? That way you can freshen up if you need to."
"That sounds great Lucas." Alexia gave him the directions to her dorm.
"Ok, great. I'll let you go. See you in an hour."
Alexia was silent for a moment, "Lucas, what are those grunting and squealing noises that I hear?"
He laughed, "Oh, that's just my guinea pigs, Oreo and Cookie."
She laughed too, "Oreo and Cookie, that is so cute."
"Well, Oreo is black on both ends and white in the middle. Cookie is tan on both ends and white in the middle. I figured that those names went well together. Maybe, I'll show them to you some time."
"I would like that. Bye Lucas. See you soon."
"Bye Alexia."
Hanging up the phone, she thought, Now what am I going to wear. Alexia stood, and went to her closet. Sorting through every piece of clothing that she had; just proved to frustrate her. She came across the little black dress she wore when she met Lucas. She quickly put the dress to the back of the closet. Yes this is it, she thought pulling out a lavender silk dress that fell just past her knees. It had spaghetti straps and was low cut, but not too low.
"Oh, this is perfect," Alexia said grabbing the lavender stiletto heels that matched the dress, a pair of black lace stockings, and a little black purse. After she was dressed she added a few curls to her hair. She dabbed on some pale pink lipstick, and lightly applied some lilac eyeshadow. With that done she still had fifteen minutes to spare before Lucas showed up.
I wonder what we are going to do tonight, she thought, Maybe we will go back to Legacy. I would like to dance with him. I can't believe... A knock at the door interrupted her thoughts, "Just a minute." She called hurrying to the door.
She opened the door with a big smile on her face, "Hi, Lucas I'll just..." what she was about to say fell away, when she realize that it wasn't Lucas at the door, but it was her best friend Bethany.
"Well, hello to you too. Who is Lucas and why are you so dressed up Alexia?" Bethany asked as she came into the room.
"Lucas is the man that I met at Legacy the other night. I am dress up because I am going out with him tonight. Bethany, you have got to go right now. I'll call you later."
"Ok, but you better call." Bethany said leaving Alexia's dorm room.
"I will. Goodbye." Alexia said closing the door. Not two minutes later there was another knock at the door. Thinking that it was Bethany again. She jerked open the door and said, "Bethany I said go." That's when she realize it was Lucas at the door, "Oh, my gosh, Lucas I'm sorry. I thought you were my friend Bethany."
"That's ok. Are you ready?"
"Yes, just let me grab my purse."
"Alexia, I must say that you look even more beautiful when your dress fits who you really are."
"Thank you. I'm ready to go."
"Well, come on then." Lucas said. He placed his hand on the small of her back as he led her out of the dorm and to his 1999 Ford truck.
"Oh, I didn't realize that you had a truck." Alexia said.
"Is that a problem?"
"Well, not exactly. I mean I like trucks, being a country girl and all. It's just that I am wearing a dress, and that makes it difficult to get in, without flashing things." She explained.
"I get the picture," Lucas said. Then he gently grabbed her waist, and lifted her into the cab of the truck.
"Oh!" Alexia exclaimed, "Thank you."
"No problem."
"So where are we going?"
"Well, since I called you last minute, and interrupted your very important studies. I thought that we could just go back to Legacy tonight, and maybe we could go some where else another time. Is that ok with you?" He replied.
"Yes, that is perfectly fine with me. Actually, I was hoping that we were going to go to Legacy."
"You were?"
"Yes, I was."
Lucas thought about this for a moment, then asked, "Do you mind if I ask why?"
Smiling Alexia replied, "Not at all."
He laughed, "Very funny. Why were you hoping that I would take you to Legacy?"
"Do you want the truth?"
"Of course I do. I would like for there to be nothing but the truth between us."
"Truthfully, I was hoping that we'd go to Legacy, because was hoping that we could dance."
"You never know, it's possible that we could dance a time or two before the night is over." He said with a smile as they pulled into Legacy's parking lot. "Now just stay put."
"Ok," Alexia said, as Lucas got out of the truck, and sauntered around to her door.
He open the door and said, "Put you arms around my shoulders and I will lift you out."
Alexia smiled, and did as he asked. As Lucas lifted her out of the truck bridal style she thought, He is such a gentleman, I really like having his hands at my back and behind my knees. My goodness he smells fantastic. As he set her down she said, "Thank you."
"Your welcome. Come on, lets go in. Legacy shouldn't be too busy on a Sunday night, but I still want to get going." Lucas said as he took her hand in his and led her into Legacy. Once inside he led her to a table and asked, "Would you like a drink?"
"Just a soda, I've got classes in the morning."
He nodded and signaled to the waitress for two sodas. Alexia asked, "Don't you drink?"
"I do, sometime, but not very often, never alone, and never when my date isn't. Also I don't drink when I am driving."
"Ah, how very smart of you." She said as their drinks arrived, "You know the last time we were here, I never asked you what your job is."
