Chapter 1
“Hey, Drea! You going to help me load this stuff or what!? Get off that phone, tell Chris bye and over here and help me. Or am I just moving myself into this fantastic apartment you got but won’t give me details about.” Catlynne yelled as she struggled to put the box of Andrea’s belongings in the car. “Jesus what’d you pack?! Bricks? This shit’s heavy! Damn it…ANDREA!”
“Yeah, yeah, be there in a minute. Just shut that large trap that’s your mouth for a minute, o.k. I can get off the phone much more quickly without you yapping in my ear!” Andrea spoke quietly and calmly, but the sarcasm was evident in her tone. She returned to her conversation much to Catlynne’s frustration. “Yeah, baby, you just keep thinking about that massage you’re going to give me tonight.” Andrea’s voice was husky, seductive as she spoke now. Catlynne rolled her eyes, heaved a great sigh and plunked the box down beside the car. Crossing her arms, she relaxed against the car watching Drea talk smooch with Chris. ‘Ohhh, this is just…just…sickening. Their syrupy talk is going to make me sick.’ She smirked, thinking up a mock conversation, but it was too sickening to act out.
“Of course I mean me. What’d you think was going to happen? That I’d give you the massage tonight?! No way! It’s my turn. And you’d best make it good or you’ll never get another good massage for a looong time. O.K. Well, I have to go. Cat’s giving me an evil look, and I’m not in the mood for one of her mocking plays. O.K. Bye babe.” Drea put her phone away. “O.k. Miss Impatience. What does her majesty demand now?”
Catlynne made a face at her, “I implore you to help me with all of…,” she made a sweeping gesture toward all of the boxes containing their things, “…this. Now I remember someone mightily impatient this morning. ‘Cat, come on and move your slow ass. We need to get this done or would you rather stay with your parents for eternity?’ Am I right?” Cat smirked. “Of course I am. Thank you, thank you,” Cat made bows to an imaginary audience.
“Well, if you would have moved your lead ass a bit faster, I would have never gotten on the phone.” Drea replied. “Thank you!” Andrea bowed, peeked up at Cat’s face. “Ohhh, look out! Who’s speechless? She leaned forward, hand cupped to her ear, “What’s that? A big fat…nothing! Who the bitch!?...You the bitch! Now get my shit and put it in the car.” She crossed her arms, smirked, and leaned against the car, blowing on her knuckles and brushing them off. Then she grinned at Cat. Somehow Catlynne couldn’t find it in her to be angry. So she just grinned and hugged Andrea, “I know you’re puttin’ my things in the car then, cuz I’d have to kill you if you thought I’d do this on my own, ho.”
Drea sighed, “I s’pose I can lift a hand or two to help you out, since you begged me sooo sweetly.”
2 hours later…
“Oh, hell no! Please tell me I’m seeing things!” Catlynne screeched.
Drea looked sheepish, “It’s not that bad,” she squeaked. Catlynne glared at her, “Not bad! Then do my eyes deceive me? Are we not at your boyfriend’s apartment complex, and wait, here’s the good part! WE HAVE THE SAME FRIGGIN’ ADDRESS! Isn’t this just peachy!” Catlynne replied, sarcasm evident in her tone.
Drea lifted her chin, “We’re not living with him, just next door. Right next door, actually.
“Breathe Catlynne. Must not lose control.” Catlynne’s eyes narrowed as she thought of something. “Why the surprise, then, the secret’s? Why couldn’t you just tell me we were moving next door to Chris? Why the elaborate scheme?”
Drea looked at her askance, “Why? Cause I’ve been trying to get you out of that house for years. No fucking way I’m going to give you such an easy excuse to back out with! And now I know I was right to do it. I know you would raise hell and back out if I told you.” Drea gave her a look that dared her to deny it.
“You’re damn right I would’ve!” Catlynne exclaimed, “This is almost as bad as going out with someone you work with. It just doesn’t mesh. You two agreed not to live together because you’d never get along, now we’re right next door to him! This is a disaster waiting to happen!” She gave a frustrated sigh and smoothed her hand over her hair.
Drea looked at her in disbelief, “How can you say that?! It’s not even the same!”
“I know it to be true in some cases. I’ve had some experience.” She stated.
“You don’t need to bring your personal bullshit to life here. I know you’ve had some problems with guys, but it’s not even relevant here. Keep it to yourself. Deal with your demons.” Drea said, jaw tight.
Catlynne looked up, fury evident in her stormy eyes. Drea raised a hand, “Don’t start, here comes Chris,” She narrowed her eyes, “We’ll talk about this later. Behave.”
“Don’t tell me what to do.” Catlynne said softly. Drea looked hard at her, then turned her attention to Chris.
“Hey babe! Miss me much?” Drea sashayed up to Chris, and wrapped one arm around his neck. He wrapped both arms around her and buried his face in her neck. He raised his head, “You know it, babe. I was counting the minutes ‘til I would see you.” He grinned at her. “How ‘bout we catch up.” He looked at Catlynne, then back, “alone.” He kissed Drea, long and lingering. Cat rolled her eyes, mentally wishing herself blind. Drea pulled back, “As much as I’d love that, I can’t babe. We have to move in.” He sighed.
“Well, I’ll just find my roommate and a neighbor and we’ll help you move in faster! How about that?” He looked satisfied with himself, as if he had solved the world’s most difficult problem.
Catlynne saw his look, and thought he looked like a rooster ripe for plucking. ‘God, as if it wouldn’t have taken a brain the size of pea to figure out a plan like that.’ She said as much, “O.K. pea-brain, you’re on. Let’s see some action.” Drea looked at Catlynne quizzically, she just raised her eyebrow at Drea as if to say, ‘What?! I can’t behave forever.’
Chris just looked confused, but left to find his ‘action’ men. Drea zeroed in on Cat, “What was that about?” She demanded. Catlynne tried to look innocent, but then gave up. Throwing her hands up, she burst out, “What! I couldn’t help it. He looked like an overstuffed rooster and besides, he walked right into it. He acted like he’d solved the world’s most difficult problem when a retard could’ve come up with that idea.” She grumbled. “Besides, I doubt he even registered the insult in his little pea-size brain.”
Drea’s brows knit together, “Catlynne.” She said warningly.
“So sue me.” Cat retorted, walking toward her car.
“For your information, he did solve a difficult problem. He figured out how to get me in his bed faster, and I can’t say I don’t like his thinking. Did you know he can do it…” she stopped at Catlynne’s moan of anguish.
“Ohhh! Please stop, tmi, tmi, tmi! To even think of Chris in bed…have mercy, you’re killing me here!” Catlynne clutched her head in mock pain.
“Oh, please Catlynne. As if you haven’t heard worse! Get a grip and stop your melodramatics.” Drea snapped.
Catlynne was still clutching her head; she opened one eye and blinked up at Drea. She stood up suddenly, “You’re right. After all, men think with the lower portions of their body, so naturally they’re lacking in intelligence.” She said cheerfully. “I shall try to behave, but it is very hard…Oh look! Here come the men now!” She winked at Drea,“To play or not to play?”
Drea laughed softly, she felt sorry for the guys Chris had volunteered. Chris might be safe because he was hers, but the other guys wouldn’t be so lucky. She turned to see who he had brought and did a double-take. These guys were hot, sizzling hot! She looked over to see Cat’s reaction to the half-nude duo come to help. Cat didn’t look spellbound, but more like she was measuring them up. ‘Ah, and now the fun begins.’ She thought.
The guys came to a halt when they reached them.
I know it's a little timid right now but give me time;) It's a work in progress.
