Serpentine Emotion
The quickened heart beat
And rushing of adrenaline
And tightness around your
heart like
You’re seizing, but no
blackness comes
All seem ironic in comparison
To the ashen complexion of
your skin
And you eyes widen like head
lights
So much effort goes into
preparing
You for that upcoming blow
That not so distant Horror
Normal exertion turns all
flesh
To bloodied fruit
So why is it
In this overwhelming emotion
no one can conquer
You are so gone into that void?
That space of nothing colored
And your heart races on
You think you might break
A little voice in your head
Growing louder and louder
Saying “I can’t do this”
But you will, oh, you will
And when it is all over and
done with
All fades and descends
Into complete and utter
Nothingness
A happiness called relief
For what is light
Without the dark?
