The 'Bridge Series - Into the Bridge

Poems written in spring/winter 2005
And retrospectively in spring 2007
Authors note: written 2 weeks in
Into a dirty concrete box was taken
My body was bruised and my mind was broken
They dressed me for bed in pastel cloth
And left me alone with a struggling moth
Flittering around the burning light
Struggling through a losing fight
My solitude does not last long
To me, a child, this was all wrong
I felt like a carnival attraction
Then the nurses made me sleep
I thanked them, for it stopped my weep(ing)
Sleep
Drug induced sleep
Drug induced psychotic slumber
In this hospital, I am but a number
