Cuz It Works Better If it’s in Black
Cuz It Works Better If it’s in Black
She liked a dress at the store but it was in blue
She wanted some shoes that matched her dark hairdo
She hated the red lipstick her mother gave her and gave it back
Her mother asked why
She said, ‘cuz it looks better if it’s in black’.
She saw a purse that worked well with her nails
She asked to see the black one but there were none for sale
The clerk asked if she wanted the green one on the rack
She said, ‘No, it’s better if it’s in black’.
For hours on end, she stared at her white door
Then she turned her dark eyes to the floor
The harder she stared the brighter the color
Then stormed in her irritating younger brother
‘What are you doing?!’ then he cried out, ‘MONSTER!!! I WILL ATTACK!!!’
Side stepping the brat, her only reply was, ‘Everything would look better if it’s in black’.
So she grabbed a brush and a bucket of paint
She set to work until she felt faint
Her mother entered her room
‘dear…Oh dear lord, what did you do to your room?!’
The windows, the bed, the furniture, the floor and her door were all brushed in paint.
Looking around at her room she couldn’t hold the smile back
She said, ‘Cuz it works better if it’s in black’.
