Be Careful What You Wish For
A/N: An old unfinished story I began to write last year. I'm reworking it a little, so the next few chapters will take some time to be put up, but please review and tell me if the prologue intrigues you.... I'm hurrying to finish the first chapter :)
Be Careful What You Wish For
Prologue
He strolled moodily down the main street of Anyam. His long black coat looked out of place, as did his wide-brimmed black hat, pulled low over his forehead. His dark shirt, pants, and high boots made no sound as he made his way purposefully. His hands were firmly jammed in his coat pockets. He looked down at the packed dirt that served as both the sidewalk and the street.
He paused, turned his head slightly left, towards an old, disaffected building, but as though he had forgotten something. No one saw his bright green-grey eyes glance behind him. No one saw the small silver spherical object he pulled from his coat pocket. His eyes darted quickly, his head didn’t move, yet there was no doubt he had seen everything and everyone in the street.
The silver ball fell to the floor and cracked open. Swiftly bending to pick it up, he disappeared. Just like that.
