A Choice
Hey everyone. Ok some back history on this: I have had this story for a very long time, and I have been writing it since about 1997. I only ever got three chapters up originally on FF.net, but the story it's self is complete in my head. I just have to put it down on paper. (Or Cyber paper so to speak)
This story is my baby. I have made a few miner changes to it, after re-reading it, but nothing to drastic. Just a few grammatical changes. Oh and I am completely revamping Chapter 3, as I noticed on FF.net that I changed a LOT of the story from what I originally intended it to be. (Sometimes guys can do that to you)
So if you have seen this story before, that's where it originally came from.
Anywhoo, without farther a due, On with the story.
~*~*~*~*
Thunder clapped, and lightning stretched across the darkened sky...blonde hair drenched by the pouring rain as she ran after him...As he left her on her own.
"Please...Please don't go..."She said. He stopped and paused a second, and looked back. Her eyes shawn with the green of a thousand forests, even in the darkness of the night. He stared at her. His eyes as cold and piercing as his own aura was. He turned and walked away leaving her there in the rain…alone. So she stood there...Raindrops tasting like tears...or maybe they were…At this point she didn't know anymore...Or even care...That's when she decided…it was over...Kaya Moyoto was dead.
The fight had been a long one, burdened with much loss and heart ach. Kiuko had fought hard and strong as did Kaya, but it resulted in loss, as the thing got away...Whatever it was. Ever since that battle the two had been in a disagreement as to who was stronger, and who needed to train more. Normally they would not argue about such trivial things, and both train, but this time, they were both so sure that it was the others fault, that it came to a point where they wouldn't talk anymore. One day during an argument though, Kaya made a dark suggestion in attempt to make him give up.
"Alright Kiuko...If are SO much stronger without me, then why don't you just go off on your own? You don't need my help after all…You are the "Invincible Knight", as you put it."
The argument was childish. It was just a demon, that’s all. Kaya knew that it was childish too in her heart, but she was sick and tired of his arrogance. All he seemed to be doing lately was boasting about how strong he was, and how no one could best him in a fight. It ticked her off, because she knew she could overpower him easily, but in training when ever she did, he just claimed he let her win.
All this boasting about him being unbeatable, and then along comes this demon who overpowers them both, and the first thing he does is blame Kaya. Instead of saying it was both their faults, she felt he needed some humility, so she decided to argue the point with him, and it remained this way for about a week.
Kiuko, being a bit angered by her suggestion, felt he was pushed to prove her wrong. He knew what she was doing and it wouldn’t work. He simply replied,
"Ok then. I guess we will go our separate ways. Goodbye Kaya...have a nice life." And he stepped out the door, into the rain. That's when she realized...
"Oh shit...What have I done? KIUKO WAIT!" And she dashed off after him. Now she stood in the rain with the biggest decision of her life just made, and she was left on her own.

Kiuko walked. The rain was pouring buckets on the street, and to any other being it would have been crazy to be out in a storm like this, but not to Kiuko. He wandered the streets drenched until he found what he had been looking for. His old car. He had parked it in a forest for safe keeping.
Forest...pft..I don't need her...
He hopped in, and took off into the night. He didn't know where he was headed. He didn't know how he would get there. He didn't even know what would happen when ever he got to wherever it was he was going. All he knew was he had to go.
His car raced down the road, and didn't stop until it reached the end of its tank of gas. There he re-filled it and then slept for the night. He would be awake the next morning, and that would be when he went looking for a new place.

Kaya walked back to the house. It seemed so much emptier then it was mere moments before. She peeled off her soaking clothes, feeling saddened, and guilty for what she had done. In her fit of rage, she had pushed away the one person she was bound to for all eternity, and she knew he wasn't going to return.
"Heh.." She said, sardonically to her self, "..Of course he wouldn't...He's way to proud for that. His greatness would want to spite me, in any way he could...So typical.." Her words echoing throughout her head, spoken aloud in the empty room. Spite and anger dripping off of them, she stood there... as it melted away. Tears formed at the brim of her eye lids. NO! She wouldn't cry. Crying is weak! Her mind flashed back.
"It's ok, I'm here." Kiuko said. His eyes sparkled and shined.
"I'm fine...I'm..sniff...I'll be fine...I shouldn't cry; Its weak." Kaya said, eyes shining with unshed tears. Kiuko's eyes pierced hers sharply.
"NO! Its not weak...It means you care!...That is one of the many things I love about you. Crying is not weak at all, alright?" He said, his tone calm, yet sharp. Kaya nodded...
Tears began to form again, as she remembered his words. She shook her head. No...Crying IS weak. She decided to take this step in her life to understand what's what. From this day forward she would never cry, or show emotion ever again.
"...All that does is lead to heart ach.." She said, feeling the irony of the situation. Unclothed, she walked up the stairs, passing the closet into her room. She placed the soaking wet garments in the dirty clothes basket, and went back to the linen closet she had just passed in the hall. On her way, she saw her full length mirror. She paused, and took a long look at her self.
Everywhere, scars adorned her body. Her wet hair, matted looking, and messy.
"Is this what I have become? Is this what I am supposed to amount to?"
Her eyes, green and shining, she looked at her self. The ancient magic deep within her, pulsed strong, and true. Her nature, as the Forest Spirit, given.
"This...This is what caused the whole thing. My stupid power...What ever evil is out there...I am the one always sent to face it..."
She touched the scar that defiled her once perfect face.
"This is who I am...This is what I have done..."
She closed her eyes, and felt everything around her. Something deep inside of her, that she had once unlocked long ago...She looked at it. She then opened her eyes again. Her decision was made.
"This is who I am...No more..."
She closed her eyes, the green enveloping her, as she locked away that which she unlocked once ago...that which she had held so dear, many years before. Her decision made, now her magic...
"Is a thing of the past. I am finished now...My purpose served. From this day on, I will not use my magic. Kaya Moyoto, Forest Spirit, no longer exists. Human I am, and I will forever be."
At that point, she crawled into her empty bed, and fell into a restless sleep. The next day would be a long one, of many to come but she had to get used to it now. This was her choice...and she had to live with it.

A/N: Ok that was the 1st chapter... The editing didn’t take me to long to do, so I may be getting chapters up sooner then you think. I know Kaya’s relationship with Kiuko seems a but odd to you now, but don’t worry, I’ll explain a little better in later chapters, so it will eventually make sense to you in the end. Please R&R.
I love feedback – it makes me write faster.
