Dilemmas of Westmaster's High

Hey there, if anyone's reading this. Welcome to Westmaster's High!

“Chels, I really like this guy,” continued Hannah for the umpteenth time.

Chelsea was completely fed up with Hannah’s petty whining. It was the same thing every day. She wants him. He’s taken. Not to mention a colourful variety of ways in which to demolish the relationship.

Chelsea came up with her usual advice, “I know but you seriously gotta move on, girl.”

“Oh my god! I can’t believe you just said that!”

“Can you hear yourself?” Chelsea’s question failed to get through to her.

“He’s the love of my life! You were there when he smiled at me in Math! If that’s not a sign…” Hannah’s voice trailed off.

Half paying attention, Chelsea impatiently began inspecting her glossy fingernails as they sat on the benches during the hour lunchbreak. She decided she could do with another manicure and made a mental note: arrange an appointment at JustNailz. Suddenly she was torn away from her thoughts.

“…Chelsea! Are you even listening to me?”

Chelsea looked up into Hannah’s chocolate brown eyes. She really pitied the poor girl. Sure, she was a tad obsessed but her heart was in the right place. If only she could find the right guy… Just then, an idea hit Chelsea like a ton of bricks. Hannah’s lack in finding available guys was just what Chelsea needed to keep her mind occupied.

“What are you doing after school?” Chelsea took a bite from her crispy red apple.

“Um, well, Shaun has detention this afternoon so I’m just gonna hang ‘round here and wait for him.”

Not quite what Chelsea wanted to hear.

“Okey-dokey, that’s just rad,” Chelsea sarcastically replied, then added, “There’s just one major problem. P-A-R-E-N-T-S.”

“Oh yeah, that’s why I’d like to ask you a really huge favour. Please, please, pretty please?”

“What now?” Chelsea rolled her eyes.

“Well, I kinda-sorta told them that I was gonna be with you ‘til about 7pm, so if you could…”

“Hannah, I know for a fact, detention finishes way before 7pm! What’s going on, girl?”

“Forget I even asked!”

With that, Hannah quickly grabbed her Justin Timberlake-covered ring-binder, her fluorescent pink pencil case, and her ‘Whinney the Pooh’ bag, then headed off towards the lockers.

The sudden outburst was completely out of character for Hannah. Something had to be wrong.
