Dead Reign
Prolog
It is a shame that violence is in human nature. Some would say that this statement is un-true, but can you really say that. Humans walk over each other, rape, plunder, and murder each other without shame. Perhaps violence is just something we are born with. In any case, let’s hear a story. Typically it goes like this…
Once upon a time there was a planet called Nova. The planet’s inhabitants had a very advanced society; technology galore, cures for sickness, and pollution free environment. However, this advanced society had one thing that eluded them, peace. Understanding of one another is something human kind has a problem with adapting. Now, what is an advance society suppose to do with such a major problem? Why find a quick fix; now children the great minds of the planet came together to find a solution to the violence plaguing their world. Their solution was to drug the entire population of the planet with a special gas that would calm the society down to the point that violence would not be necessary. So the government agreed, without asking its citizens. Soon the wondrous gas was set free into the air, spreading its arms across the globe. Soon the people indeed calm down and crime and war stopped around the planet. The scientist and the government leaders congratulated themselves for a job well done. However, boys and girls there are consequences to playing god. Not long after the so called success, did something bad happened. People in large numbers began to die. Panic engulfed the planet as government’s raced to find the cause. It seemed that the wonder gas had worked too well. Survivors had to seek shelter in domes where the air could be purified without the gas.
In the end fifty percent of the planet’s population died, while the other half survived. One would think that this a sad end to a story, but at least they all learned a lesson, right? Wrong, you see boys and girls there was another side-effect to the gas. Once the government officials believe the gas had worn off they sent soldiers to investigate the environment. What they found was that the dead weren’t as dead as dead could be. Corpses that used to litter the ground was now walking around. Now boys and girls, what do we call the walking un-dead? Zombies!
It seemed the gas had another nasty side effect. Now tell me children what so zombies eat? That’s right, live, human flesh. Oh me Oh my. Now you think that some hero will arise and slay all the zombies, get a girl, and with some sacrifice the everyone will live happily ever after. Well, boys and girls has anyone bothered to hear a zombie point of view? No, because zombies are mindless, they only live on the most basic of animal instinct, fight, flight, fuck, and food. Well children I hate to burst your bubble, but there are zombies that still posses their cognitive thoughts. How do I know this, well…boys and girls, I am a zombie. Humanity and its obsession to become equal to god, took everything away from me; my life, my love, my family, and my humanity. I hate them for what they did to me and the others of my generation.
Once upon a time, this zombie had a life, but now has nothing. The mortals that still dwell in this perpetual hell hide themselves in massive domes of steel; protected from the wondering dead un-ending search for food, caged in their artificial bubbles of protection. I hope they are content, because soon the world will change again. Someday soon the mortals won’t have a wall to hide behind, their shelters will fall and the dead will reign.
