A Woman Knelt
A woman knelt
and called on gods.
She called and hailed
but found no answer.
A woman cried
and beat her breast.
Why me god?
Always me god?
This woman looked
and saw her path.
All was in darkness.
The light was dead.
She wailed to god,
prostrate in dust.
Not me god.
Where is god?
She looked before,
and looked behind.
All was twisted
and deeply scarred.
This woman howled
and tore her flesh.
I'm old god.
I'm dead god.
and called on gods.
