Ethereal Magic
Story Information:
Story outline:
Erin is admitted into a Tower, a school of magic, and is instantly embroiled in a world of politics and power. She is rebellious of her superiors and is always getting in trouble. Through her adventures and misadventures she unveils the truth of her crumbling world and sets out to set things straight. When it becomes obvious that the future cannot be changed, Erin gathers about her an army and goes to face the enemy head on.
Background Information:
The Nothing Man, the God of Intimate Evil, had too much access to the mortal world, or so said the other ‘good’ gods. In a war too large for mortals to understand, they slowly destroyed the world with their meddling.
The Grey Spirits, the spirits of the in between realm who policed the gods when they wished to enter the mortal realm, were slowly being pushed from their home. When they were at last fully corporeal, they took the in-between race of man and animals as their own.
The gods however, were deprived of ever entering the mortal realm again, for they did not realize that the Grey Beings that were of the gods’ realm and the mortal realm were the link that allowed them passage.
Without the gods to guide their people, the witches grew in wealth, power and arrogance. They heavily used the Grey Plains to support their magic, building up cities with it, and molding the weather to their will, and even folding space as they were want to do.
They are draining the Grey Place dry, which could have never happened if the Grey Entities were in their own realm, for they were the realm in essence, and as a result the mortal realm is falling apart in the global warming equivalent.
The Three Realms:
Gods Realm:
The gods’ realm is the incorporeal realm, in which the gods may reside in their entirety. The realm of infinite time and space, where both are the same, and all at the same time.
Grey Realm:
The grey realm is the in-between realm. This realm is half in the gods’ realm, half in the mortal realm. It is the link between the two, and the only way to get from one to the other. It is magic incarnate, and the Grey Entities can make it into what ever they wish.
Mortal Realm:
The mortal realm is the corporeal realm. This is where life is played out in its infinite slowness, according to the gods.
Characters:
Erin:
Erin is a direct descendant of the children of the gods, the elements. As such, she has an insight into the Nothing Mans mind, even if she does not know it is so. Her treatment at the hands of the witches has awakened her indomitable spirit. She is the Inferno Master; Master of the Flame.
Kyle:
Kyle is a sickly young man, whose magic keeps trying to heal the void in the Grey Plains without his knowledge, and as such his life force is draining away into the healing. He is the Ethereal Master; Master of the Grey Place.
Juniper:
Juniper is the Under-Secretaries Assistant and knows more about what is going on then most, including the Under-Secretary, she only wishes she knew what to do to fix it. She is the Loam Master; Master of the Earth.
Liaku:
Liaku is a lone Grey Entity in corporeal form, abandoned by his people for his belief that the mortals may hold the key to their salvation. He is the Tempest Master; Master of the Wind.
Bounty:
Bounty is a rogue Navy Officer turned Pirate of the seas. His uniquely rebellious nature and spurious charm has gotten him out of iron many times. He does not like that the witches have done to the sea. He is Cloudburst Master; Master of the Water.
