Andrea and Neal
I looked myself over again in the mirror. I really hadn’t changed that much, my eyes were still a bright green supported by an almost hazel ring; my hair was still the dark brown it normally was when it wasn’t dyed. Something about me was different though. It drove me nuts I couldn’t figure out what had changed.
I finally pried myself away from the reflection. I was slightly dizzy as I looked around my room then came nausea. Nahir said I would have symptoms like this from blood loss for a while. It wasn’t nearly as bad as it had been before. After Mordecai had feed I started to loose consciousness and had blacked out several times. Fighting them the whole time probably hadn’t helped lessen the effects either.
It was even mentioned they should just kill me for all the trouble I had caused. The vampire who mentioned it had his throat ripped out, shame it grew back in a matter of seconds. I wasn’t sure if they were trying to turn me but if they were they didn’t succeed. They had managed to do some thing to me though. That is why I ended up in front of the mirror. I could feel the change in my body and I wanted to know if I could see the change as well.
I couldn’t see it or at least not in a way I could describe. That really bothered me; it probably bothered me more than any thing else had tonight. I couldn’t fight this sort of change or at least I didn’t know how to fight it. I only like things that I can take out a gun and shoot if the need arises. Of course that might be the reason people were afraid of me. I have a tendency of shooting at things they couldn’t see.
I know I’m shooting at something real but it’s hard to explain to people that you could see something they couldn’t and it was real. I had actually had a shooting accident at school a few months ago. It wasn’t a happy thing. I shot my headmaster’s, Mr. Laun’s, dog. He was furious. I don’t know why, it was old; it had been marked to die that day anyway. He needed some convincing I hadn’t just wanted to kill his dog; I do tend to lean towards revenge.
Of course I didn’t have friends at school before that. Hell, my parents didn’t even like me. Four years after I was born my father died and I inherited a large fortune and numerous titles, my mother always expected to. It was obvious even then I had paranormal abilities just like my father. I grew up to look just like his mother had; I held no resemblance to my mother’s family at all. She had only married him for the money and when she didn’t get it I was her constant reminder that she didn’t, her constant reminder of him.
When I was five she married again to a man of money but no status and started to travel. I never saw her and never thought of her. By the time I was seven I had started to manage my father’s house hold and got rid of my nanny. She was an old mean lady my mother hired her specifically because she was mean. I was sent to a very strict prepatory school and my life went from there.
I was now an old sixteen year old who spent her time in the estate grave yard or shooting things. This week was going to be special though, I had vampires to kill and my mother was coming to visit. Only the later scared me.
My mother scared the shit out of the whole house. I couldn’t blame the staff either she was a damn scary woman. The king had recently written to congratulate me on the birth of my new half sister as well, hell I didn’t even know I had a half sister until then, so I had to have the nursery reopened. Andis, my mother would want the master suite but she would have to settle for the second nicest guest suite. She couldn’t have the nicest guest rooms, Neal; my favorite person was living in them at the moment. We accepted each other because Neal had acquired an unfortunate scratch from a wereloepard as a child so my supernatural abilities didn’t matter to him, and he usually saw what I was shooting at. He’d been living here for several months and I was now living in the Master suite. Neal’s rooms and mine actually made up the whole of the East wing. We could come and go through each others rooms and no one would know.
Andis was going to hate that, one of us was always home so she couldn’t go through my stuff and she had no way of knowing what we were up to. The problem was the single working nursery was joined to the east wing so Neal and I were on baby duty. Oh well Neal liked kids, I didn’t but I could deal for a week.
Neal and I ran the house in an almost perfect fashion like we had always run it together; it had been like that even when he first moved in. We had always been attracted to each other and living together didn’t change that if any thing it intensified it. Of course he was eighteen and I looked and acted like it so sometimes it was like we were married. In fact the whole court expected us to be. It was a perfect match we had friendship, passion, love, and we both had money and our own high status. We were both active at court and held seats in the high council. The only thing that kept us was my age and that we both didn’t want to settle right away, we had an understanding and time.
My mother wouldn’t like that either. We acted married and we weren’t even engaged, she was married and didn’t want to be. Neal was like me so I knew he was going to play it out to its full advantage, who was I to stop him?
