Chapter 1
For years now I have ventured to this cave. It’s where I spend my free time, just me, a candle and a book, no one else to bother me as I absorb myself into the worlds that these fantastic authors paint before me with literature. The cave was a home to a colony of Ghost Bats, but they were relocated some time ago and the cave was made uninhabitable by the authorities. So I took it as a good advantage to claim it as my own and forget this world of chaos and disorder.
Finishing a book about Dragons and Fantasy, I picked up another book that I must have grabbed by accident. It was a genre that I do not normally read, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to check it out. Reading the title, ‘my best friend’s an alien,’ I chuckled and flipped to the proclaimer.
“This book is like nothing you will ever expect. Let me show you…” Was all that was printed. Confused, I looked into it and found the pages to be blank. Next thing I knew, everything around me became pitch black as I felt like I was falling, falling and falling and never going to stop falling.

Eventually I landed on a hard cold ground and cursed aloud. Getting up slowly and rubbing my bum, I couldn’t believe what was before me, a blood red sky with a surrounding that reeked of death, disease and chaos. I pinched myself to see if I was dreaming, but to my dismay, I was not. I staggered around, trying to find some form of life or a phone or something.
“Hello!?” I yelled into the distance. Strange, no echo. A thunderclap shook me to my senses and I ran toward the ruins of an old building. Shivering in the cold, I checked my watch to see what the time was, it stopped working. Cursing aloud again, I kicked what I thought was a rock, but it vibrated and then opened it’s eyes? I gasped as it opened it’s gaping mouth and tried to bite me.
“What the fuck? Get away from me!” I started to run at a fast pace as it was gaining on me and the next thing I knew I knocked into something or…someone? I came to my senses and notice that I had flattened some other woman in my panic.
“Oh I am terribly sorry, here let me help you up.” I offered my hand, which she took gratefully and smirked.
“So how did you get here?” She asked me.
“Uh…well I was reading this book and…well I was trying to cause the funny thing was it had no words. The proclaimer was a little suspicious and the next thing I knew I was well…here.” I shrugged and looked around. “Exactly where is here? I’ve never seen such a horrifying site before.”
“This is the inner world, an alternate reality from the place you know as Earth. I too used to be apart of Earth, but then I came here somehow. My name is Emily by the way, and you are?” She held out her right hand in a friendly gesture.
“I’m Dani, hey where did that thing that was chasing me go?” I questioned.
“That was a Rockanen, they’re odd little creatures that exist in the inner world. You have much to learn while you are here. I know a way to get back to Earth, and I will help you, if you wish to leave. It may smell of death and decay, and look like shit right now, but I can show you that this place is a lot more than that.” She smiled and extended her hand again. I placed my hand in hers and she then took me to the ‘Citadel.’
“The Citadel is where humanoid civilisation can be found. Once there, I can get you registered, fed, bathed and find you a sleeping quarter…I guess you can share mine as we are fast running out of space.” She kept talking about all of this, yet I was having difficulty getting it to sink in. Why am I here? What is my purpose and what did she mean by humanoid?

We finally arrived at the citadel and all I could say was,
“Fuck me! This place is huge!”
She giggled and as we watched the gate lower, she started to run toward it, dragging me with her.
“Hey! Slow down!” I struggled to keep up with her, man she was fast!
“Sorry, here this better?” She tried to slow it down but it was no better. We stopped running as we met up with a small group of guards, well I think they were guards. I guess they were the reason she said ‘humanoid.’ The men were sort of, different. Some of them were like the Greek mythologic Minotaurs, others had tusks or spikes or were reptilian or furry.
“Um…what are these?” I asked her cautiously.
“These are locals of the citadel. I will explain everything in due time but for now lets get you registered. Follow me…”

A/N: This is just something I have summed up. I would like to hear your opinions if this story has anything that's good. If not I will discard it and wait till I have another creative spasm of thought to dribble out something else. Thanks.
