A/N: After revising my story plan and looking at the current chapters, I decided to do some editing before I got any further into the story. The female lead now has a different name and I have added a short epilogue, but besides those small things there really aren’t any vital pieces of information, so if you’re already reading this story, there’s no need to go back over it.
Thank you to those who have left reviews, they are really appreciated. I hope you continue to enjoy the story.

Prologue
She watched on with a light sheen in her eyes as the happy couple exchanged their vows. In that moment she had to wonder if this was what life was all about; the search for that special person. That one person in the whole world who could complete you. She smiled at the thought, closing her eyes for a moment to imagine finding that dream for herself. It was stupid really. In her world people didn’t marry for love, or even if they did it also had a lot to do with money, or power or image. She would be expected to marry someone her parents approved of, someone with a high powered, high paying job… or a wealthy family and an obscene inheritance that would support him for the rest of his life. Basically she was supposed to follow in her parents footsteps and if that meant she had a loveless marriage… well so be it. After all, that’s what alcohol and prescription drugs were for, to mask the emptiness and keep the smile plastered on your face as you showed the world how perfect your life is. A deep chill settled into her bones at the thought. She wanted something different for herself. She’d been living the life of the wild child princess for so long, that sometimes she wondered if it had stopped being an act and was actually a true indication of who she really was. Shaking her head lightly she took the cowards way out and put her feelings down to simply being a bridesmaid who inevitably wondered if she’d ever be the bride.
He couldn’t stop staring. He was the best man at his best friend’s wedding and instead of focusing on the couple exchanging their vows his gaze was drawn to the beautiful brunette across the aisle. He barely knew the woman only having met her once briefly before today, yet he’d barely been able to get her out of his thoughts all day. There was just something about her and the way she watched the bride and groom with awe; with a sense of wistful sadness. He wondered for a moment if her thoughts were filled with dreams of her own wedding, her own true love, but dismissed them quickly. She was not the true love kind. She was a party girl. Larger than life and ready to take on any adventure that came her way. Ordinary people like himself dreamed of families and white picket fences, but not her. She was anything but ordinary. When she opened her eyes and looked straight into his he felt paralyzed by the intensity of her gaze. She seemed to be as entranced as he was and for long moments neither of them looked away.
It wasn’t until a discreet cough from the minister broke the spell that they realized it was time for the rings and it seemed they were holding up the ceremony. She immediately noticed slight blush that stained his cheeks, most likely embarrassed at being caught staring at the maid of honor rather than paying attention. The corner of her lips twitched in the beginnings of a slight smirk. The handsome looks of the best man hadn’t escaped her attention, but he was so damn quiet and shy that he’d not really made it on to her radar… until now. That moment when their gazes were locked on one another, the rest of the world forgotten, she’d felt something different; something new. She had no idea what it meant, but suddenly he was more than just a blip on her radar. A shiver of excitement ran through her and she glanced at him again through her lashes only to find him watching her again before looking away embarrassed. It was time to put her ‘head in the cloud’ dreams away for they would only make her want things she knew she’d never have. It was time to do what she was good at, what everyone expected from her. It was time for a man hunt.
