Prologue

Wandering around town, I was, everything covered in a sandy-corroded death. I could sense the souls of the dead lingering around town.
I continued wandering through this town, stopping into every few buildings that weren't completely destroyed. Stopping, shortly after dusk, in an old pub whose roof had fallen into the floor. The moon light was beautiful as it danced around the destruction, I sat in a dark corner with my sword between my knees against my chest. Finally, I was relaxed, for my sword was no longer pulling me to the depths of hell. I grasped the hilt of my sword, squeezing it with all I had as I closed my eyes to listen to the night.
The night sang devilish as the moon light danced, it was the very song I heard every night of my life. I hummed the tune, the darker side of me coming full and more attentive. I felt my ears start to become pointed as I remembered my fathers being, my chameleon skin darkening as the shadows around me. A noise broke the sound of the night, sand dragged down the fallen in roof along with rocks and a girl. I didn't move, just watch her struggle to get up, smelling her fear. As she struggled, I caught the scent of another, pushing on the rocks high above.
Blood. . . I smelled blood, she was drenched in it. Dashing out of the shadows, my Kushido Blade drawn. It was never heavy when I held it, I split the boulder in half, and slashed it to dust in seconds. Dipping back into the shadows I wandered through the darkness trailing back to the girl, I followed the scent of her blood. Her freshly dripping blood shinning vibrantly in the darkening shadows, it was as if hunting for food only with the nocturnal upper hand.
After an hour or so, she'd finally fallen. Lying in a pool of her beautifully scented blood amongst the sandy ground. I slowly crept to her, the Kushido blade in its scabbard dragging along the ground as I walked with a limp. I stopped as her dead body lie affront me, I listened to her last breaths as she raised a hand to me. I cocked my head to the left and watched the last two beats of her heart. I reached down to her with only an index finder. I touched her between the breasts, an electric shock flowed through her body as her bones re-broke themselves and her blood dragged along the floor back towards the body it came.
Her eyes snapped open, she lurched up with a scream and panting from her sweating body. The smell of fear came back, as if it had actually gone. I stepped back into the darkness. I no longer looked at her heart, I looked at the fearing feminine mystique affront me. I could tell she was looking directly at me, I extended a hand to her to help her up. Her surprised stare led me top believe she would not take the kind gesture from a monster.
"Wh-- Who the hell are you?" she let out, as she crawled backwards into darkness. I heard and watched her stand and run, surprisingly not away from me. It was as if suddenly she'd gotten the courage to confront me. I stepped into the light, and I could smell her heightened fear pour from her entire being. She drew a knife from the hilt on her ankle and dug it into my chest. I looked down at it, wondering if I could ever feel that. I looked back at her, she cried.
"Pl-please don't kill me, I don't wanna die. Just don't kill me, Please." she pleaded. I looked into the deep blue eyes that looked back up at me and tried to find my own reflection. It was as if I didn't even exist, yet she was looking directly at me. I pulled the knife from my chest as black blood flowed from it. I handed it back to her.
"Never to be human." I said and wandered off back into the darkness, it was the first thing I'd said to anyone in years. I thought about how I'd once thought I wasn't fit to play this role. This monster, I just wanted to be normal. Normal like the other demons or even like that human girl. I could still smell her fear as I wandered far, far away from her. It was as if she never moved or moved with me. I stopped, in a patch of moonlight that danced around me, I looked at my hands and watched the skin among them change from a deep black to a lighter grey. I could remember when I'd first seen myself like this, torso naked grey skin holding in small yet vivid muscles. Face, covered by my hair except for my fangs and blood red eyes and my protruding grey pointed ears.
"Why can't I just stay normal?" I said looking up at the moon, my wings extending out full. I looked back down after a moment and closed my wings around myself and remembered why I could never be normal.
"Jainotesito Shape Shifter, stuck between the worlds of both Angel and Demon, lost in a world of death and life with those who have perished." Elder's voice ran through my head.
