I've Tried To Say I'm Sorry
I've tried to say I'm sorry, so many times, so many ways.
But you won't listen to me; you just hide behind your rage.
So I'm going to ask you one last time, before I hit the road;
please listen to me darling, 'cause regret is a heavy load.
I'm sorry that I hurt you, I'm sorry I made you cry.
It was never meant to be like this: our love was never meant to die.
But I can't take back all I've said and done, all those times I did you wrong.
Guess that love it just ain't enough, to make up for all my lies.
I never will forget you; your tender smile, your loving eyes.
The way my heart is breaking when I hear you say goodbye.
Now I ain't looking for forgiveness: I admit that I was wrong.
I just want to wish you all the best; a happy life, a happy home.
Maybe some day you'll forgive me, remember when our love was strong.
But I can't take the pain, of knowing I did you wrong.
So with the sun and the moon my only friends, I will walk alone,
down life's dusty highway, the only road I've ever known.
I've tried to say I'm sorry, so many times, so many ways.
But you won't listen to me; you just hide behind your rage.
Now I guess when all is said and done, it's time that I was gone.
Wondering that open road; paying penance for what went wrong.
