Growing up you were always there
you gave me life
you told me you could take it away
when I was three you were my world
you could do no wrong
when I was nine you yelled at me for playing in trees
I was a tomboy always terrorizing Marie
when I was eleven you were going away
I hated you for leaving me alone
when I was twelve you got cancer
you never told me and I cried when I learned
when I was sixteen you knew nothing
I had a life and you didn't know what one was
when I snuck out you always knew
you ruined my social life
you said I had to go to school
when I turned eighteen I thanked you
always there to ruin my life
always there to keep me out of trouble
I'm still eighteen and I love you Mom
I have become you
two parts of a whole

when I grow up I hope to ruin my daughter's life just like you
