Rescue Marcus!

“Why do we always get the shit details?”
“Shut it, Chris” replied the lieutenant. “We got our orders, and we are gonna follow them. And kill as many of those Locust bastards as we can find along the way.”
Chris grinned. “Yes, sir!” He slapped Jay on the shoulder, saying “How many are you gonna get today?” Jay just shrugged, opting to stay silent. “Whatever. Hop, how bout you?”
Hopper let out a laugh. “As many that were dumb enough to get out of their beds this morning.” Hop is the designated marksmen, carrying a Longshot rifle in place of the standard Lancer. He also carries an extra weapon for Marcus, the man they were sent to rescue.
“Shut up,” said the Lt, “I smell Locusts.” Out of nowhere, this giant of a Locust jumps out from behind cover, shooting and screaming a war cry. The Lt easily doges the shot, and returns fire. All the men lay down suppressing fire, forcing the scum to duck behind a pillar. Chris turns, and says, “Hey, where’s Lt?”
Suddenly, the men hear a loud shout, and see the remains of a Locust blasted out from behind the cover. Turning, they see the Lt step out, shotgun still smoking. Smiling, he says, “That’s how its done, boys!”
With that, the Lt’s head explodes. “Sniper! Get down!” screams Chris. “Hop, take him out!”
“Already done, comes the raspy reply, as Hopper pulls the trigger, ending the sniper’s pitiful life. “…so, what’s next, sarge?”
Jay shakes his head as he looks down at the body of the Lt. “He was a hero- saved us all more than once. Shame. Now- find and rescue Marcus. The camp is just ahead- move out.”
The men close on the base without incident. Once there, Jay lays out the plan. “Hop, you will trigger the trap. Scope out the Locust horde, and pick out the snipers. Chris and I will set up at this opening and hold. Once we are in place, take down those snipers. Chris, use the shotgun; it’s time to get messy. We will surprise them when they go after Hop. Move.”
Hopper nods, and sets up high in a tower. Once there, he takes a few moments to peer into the camp below. Jay sees him reach to his ear, and hears his voice come through: “I count three snipers in a tower to the north, and a total of fifteen Loc- wait, make that sixteen of those big uglies. Awaiting your command.” Jay replies “Fire at will.”
Almost before the words are out of his mouth, a shot rings out, followed by two more in rapid succession. “Shit, he sees me-“ BANG “make that, he saw me.” Jay smiles, nods to Chris, and together they step out, awaiting their targets. They hear another shot, and then “Snipers are taken out. I’ll cover you two. Those bastards are coming around the corner.”
Jay’s Lancer erupts in a fury of bullets as the first Locust appears, quickly dropped by Jay. Another two come around the corner, only to meet the same grisly fate as the first one.
Then the flood. All the Locust burst out at once. Jay’s Lancer burps out round after round, finally jamming, forcing Jay to drop it and take out the almighty shotty. He peeks around the corner in time to see a shot explode the head of one Locust and pop the kneecap of the one behind him. With a mighty war cry, Jay leaps from cover, his shotgun spitting out death at the wall of Locusts advancing towards him. Chris is right behind him, bellowing obsenities as he delivers sweet death to all who oppose him.
Hopper is sniping everything he can, but he can’t shake the feeling of awe as Jay and Chris dance the war-dance, and Locusts are exploding all around them. Chris sees a Locust running at him and ducks beneath the blow aimed at his head, opting to unload into the knees of the brute. This drops him to what were until very recently his knees, where Chris gleefully rips a shell into his face, turning it into jello instantly. Turning around, he takes a rifle butt to the face and is knocked to the ground. Looking up at his killer, he has just enough time to see…
…the Locust’s head explode. “Hop, I owe ya one.”
“My counts at twenty-three.” Chris leaps to his feet, his shotgun delivering sweet bliss once again. Then, he runs out of ammo, and uses his shotgun to club a Locust to the ground. Taking out his pistol, he then proceeds to put a round into the head of the unlucky alien. Turning, he charges another one, firing as he runs, and kills his enemy. Finding himself in behind one of them aiming at Jay, he pistol whips the little fucker, knocking him to his knees. The locust has time to grunt before Chris, snarling, curb stomps his brain into oblivion. “Take that, bitch!”
In his ear, he hears Hopper say “That’s the last of em.” Jay comes around the corner, still high on adrenaline. Chris laughs, saying, “You got brains on you…” Giddy with the glee of battle, Jay allows himself to laugh at his stupid battle brother. Hopper comes down, and, spotting the two soldiers, says, “You two look like shit.” This sets them all off.
“Ok,” manages Jay, in between breathes, “Lets go get Marcus. He should be in the camp somewhere.” The men turn and walk (although not too surely) into the encampment.
