Born of Darkness
I hope that by uploading this story I can help my readers understand my character Zekbrynafae a bit better. I realized in her story Angel Wing Razor there wasn't much detail surrounding her. Hopefully this helps.
Zekbrynafae is quite the looker… She has flawless ebony skin accented by her long flowing silver locks with crimson highlights. Not to mention her brilliant blood red eyes and various tribal tattoos of the same hue. Her facial features, much like her stare are cold and unforgiving. Her ears are pointed and are adorned with 3 ear cuffs on each. The top cuff is incrusted with obsidian, the second ruby, and the third diamond. Her full lips are usually painted a sultry blood red and in the center of her bottom lip rests a black ring. She typically wears a tightly laced black leather v-neck jerkin and a pair of matching black leather pants that lace up the side. Her boots slide smoothly over her skin tight apparel and buckle at the top; the silver buckles resting on her outer calf then smaller ones running down her lower leg. Though her outfit may seem dull there is nothing dull about Zekbrynafae. Depending on her mood she will add studs, spikes, chains, or anything she pleases to her outfit. The only piece of jewelry besides her ear cuffs that is never removed or changed is a black choker around her neck. It is the only token her mother has ever given her, not that that mattered much. But the choker itself was a strip of black leather decorated with varying gems each carefully placed in a brilliant flame design. And in the very center of the choker was the head of their clan’s majestic nightmare. An animal Zekbrynafae has come to love and covet.

Where it all began . . .
Zekbrynafae is the youngest of 7 sisters. They belong in the house of Auvryrahel, also known as The Blood of the Goddess. Her mother, the matriarch, specializes in the breeding and training of nightmares. A creature Zekbrynafae has always admired. Ever since she can remember these sisters have been fighting each other for supremacy over the others. All of this in hopes to one day kill their mother and take control of the house for themselves. Being a cocky little Drow Zekbrynafae would always start trouble amongst the lot, leaving her in the best position for claiming whatever degree of victory she could. However one day her eldest sister Calryn caught onto her ploy. It seemed the others had then begun to gang up on little Zekbrynafae. At one point she was beaten pretty badly and was forced to run away, as much as it stung her spirit and hurt her pride to do so. She found herself in the one place she often found herself when she needed to think. She would sit outside the central nightmare training ring and watch the new colts and fillies run about. Being later in the year there were only 2 foals born. They were twins, a rare occurrence in nightmares. Both were fillies, only there was something different, something special about the younger of the 2. She was far more bold and spirited than her sister. She would attempt things not even the yearlings would think to try and was successful. Zekbrynafae admired the filly’s strength and determination.
She soon found herself walking down to her pen everyday, watching as she slowly grew. Then on the day of their first birthday Zekbrynafae watched her mother take the twins to the breaking arena. The older filly quickly succumbed to her mother’s will. The younger would not be so easy… After hours of attempts and aggravation her mother gave up and stormed out of the ring. Knowing full well what kind of trouble she could get into Zekbrynafae cautiously snuck down to the ring and squeezed just inside the fence. The filly seemed to be doing some sort of victory lap; being proud of herself for eluding being broken. Zekbrynafae could feel the horse’s pride filling the arena and felt at peace. Not noticing her before, the filly caught a good glimpse of her humanoid observer. Cautiously she took a few steps forward then stopped, searching Zekbrynafae’s eyes. The young Drow took a step forward, the filly’s fiery mane grew in size and the intensity of the heat rose. Unafraid of such things she took another step forward, this time the filly reared up. Zekbrynafae smirked and confidently continued until the 2 beings were only a few small feet apart. Their gazes had met once more and each set of eyes seemed to be probing the other, somehow trying to see past the irises and into each other’s very souls. Zekbrynafae began to reach out her hand and the filly bowed her head. Just as she was about to rest her hand on the filly’s forehead a bone chilling scream was heard. It was her mother… Zekbrynafae looked at the filly, then towards the main house from where her mother had called her. After a second’s hesitation she took off towards the house, reluctantly leaving the filly behind.
Zekbrynafae slowly entered the main house and readied herself for her mother’s harsh words and most likely brutal punishment. As she made her way to her mother’s chambers her siblings lined to corridor and snickered. This was their favorite thing to do, to jeer at their fellow siblings when they knew they were to be punished. Once inside her mother’s quarters the doors slammed shut. Zekbrynafae listened to her mother yell and curse and berate her, though she paid no mind. A short while later she was released and sent to her own chambers, not much of a punishment in Zekbrynafae’s mind. She simply snuggled down into her bed and thought about the filly. It wasn’t too long before these thoughts were replaced by a women’s voice. “Why didn’t you take her?” Zekbrynafae sat straight up in bed. This voice was one she had never heard before, and yet it sounded so familiar. It was that of a younger woman, a dark sultry voice, and yet her tone dripped with power. “My child, my dear child. Why did you not take what so rightfully belongs to you?” It was Zekbrynafae’s turn to speak. “She is not my horse, she belongs to my mother.” The voice gave a short, half-amused chuckle. “Your mother can not deny my chosen one’s mount. Nor can she ever hope to deny you your destinies.” These words weighed heavily in the young girl’s mind. She was trying to understand what the voice had meant. Chosen one? Destinies? Her thoughts were interrupted by the voice once more. “You need not worry my kin; I shall protect you as I always have.” Zekbrynafae wrinkled her nose. “Protect me? And what should I tell my mother when she comes to punish me for what I have done?” The voice snickered. “You will tell your mother that it is the will of Lolth that you have the filly. You will also tell her that if she is so foolish to raise another dagger to my kin’s throat I will appear before her myself... I will do this to ensure your place in the ranks of my chosen children.” Zekbrynafae felt a wave of comfort all throughout her body. She may not have known what Lolth had meant by her destiny and being chosen, but having a deity on your side was always comforting. And with that said Zekbrynafae lay back down and fell fast asleep.
The next morning there was quite a commotion going on outside the main house. Zekbrynafae had woken up bright and early to train with her new filly. It wasn’t long before each and every sibling knew this information and was fighting to have the chance to pass it on to their mother. The eldest daughter Calryn was the first to make it to her. Furious their mother stormed out of the main gates and hastily made her way to the main ring. Knowing full well her mother was coming Zekbrynafae ignored her and acted as if nothing were wrong. By the time her mother made it into the ring each and every sibling was on the fence line, anxiously awaiting the situation’s outcome. As their mother began to yell Zekbrynafae waved an arrogant hand and cut her off mid sentence. Having been treated with such disrespect, her mother was now shaking she was so angry. But before she could scream anything further Zekbrynafae looked her straight in the eye. “Mother, I know what you are going to say, I have heard it all before. However this time it is you who need to understand something.” Her mother was taken back by these words, but began towards her daughter and roughly grabbed her about the collar. Zekbrynafae smirked. “Tut tut mother. I don’t believe Lolth would be pleased with the way you are treating her chosen kin.” Immediately her mother released her, but she had her own opinion. “You dirty little liar, how dare you bring our gracious Goddess into such a horrendous lie!” Zekbrynafae smiled a dangerous smile. She watched as her mother fell to her knees. The very embodiment of Lolth had surrounded and encompassed Zekbrynafae’s small frame. The Goddess’ expression and body language coming through clearly. “I warned you the last time you tried to harm my child that it would not be a wise decision.” Lolth’s voice boomed. Zekbrynafae’s mother began to move backwards, and then she fell over into an awkward bow. “I’m sorry My Lady! I did not know it was your will!” The Goddess forced her aura over the mother and spoke. “See to it that it doesn’t happen again. And be sure to take better care of my little chosen one.” Lolth turned back to Zekbrynafae and placed her hand on the child’s shoulder. With this touch an aura of evil was instilled within her. Without turning around Lolth spoke her final words. “You have seen what has happened here today. The rest is up to you, don’t disappoint me.” Her mother nodded. The Goddess vanished instantly. Zekbrynafae looked to her mother, and then to her siblings. Each child was in awe, and her mother had tears streaming down her face. This was the day everything changed; this was the day Zekbrynafae became the next in line.

Not too much to it, I haven't decided just how much detail I really want to put into Zekbrynafae's background yet. But I hope you liked it ^^
