Chapter 1
Amanda just laid there, head on his lap, staring up into deep blue eyes. The ground was cold and wet, but she didn’t care. She barely even noticed the thin blanket of snow that was beginning to wrap around her. She was too into this love to let things like those get to her. And even though everything had gone terribly wrong in the past few weeks, she knew that now everything would be perfect.
“Hey Robby?”
“Yeah?”
“I love when this happens.”
“When what happens?”
“When it’s late in the night, but when it’s snowing, it’s still bright out. Like the air is almost glowing or something. Just everything about it is almost makes life seem so unreal.”
“Yeah, almost like you’re stuck in twilight.”
“I know you probably haven’t noticed, but it’s been like this for the past few nights, you know.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah.”
Silence.
But it didn’t matter. The silence just added to the atmosphere. If she closed her eyes, there would be no noise, no light, no nothing. It would just be Amanda and Robby. Just like how it should be. She didn’t want to close her eyes though. She didn’t want to miss a moment of this perfection. She would spend eternity right there if she could. But Robby finally broke the silence.
“I’ve missed you, you know.”
“I know. I’ve missed you too.”
“And yeah, I uh. I’m sorry.”
“I know you are. I am too.”
“I just---“
“Don’t talk. Just enjoy the moment.”
More silence.
The snow finally stopped, but the glow stayed.
“Yeah dude, you should totally come over ton—“
“What the fuck!?” Amanda shouted, pushing Dante out of the way, mid sentence.
“Did I do something wrong?” Robby asked, in the most innocent voice he could conjure.
“Don’t give me that shit, I know that you were with that slut, Danielle last night.”
“So? She’s a cool girl. I can’t hang out with her.”
“Yeah, ‘hanging out’, that’s what you want to call it now?”
“Alright, even if I did fuck her, so what?”
“So what? We broke up yesterday and you’re already fucking the first girl you see, what the hell is this?“
“Who I fuck is my business, not yours anymore. So back the fuck off and go do what it was you were going to be doing.”
Almost completely on cue, the school bell rang for 2nd period. Amanda just stood there and watched as the last of her sanity walked away with his best friend. There was no way she could deal with this, not now, not in school.
Jest before she was out of earshot, she heard Robby say, “Talk about saved by the bell, huh?” and it just sent it over the edge. How could he get so cold so quickly? It was almost like the 2 years they went out disappeared in a heartbeat to him.

I know it's short. I just wanted to set the scene quickly before I start getting actual material written.

“I love when this happens.”
“When what happens?”
