Prologue

Dun dun duuuuun! Woot my computer has magically healed and with it I bring a new story! Now, never fear people who read “Reality is Insanity” I shall be posting a new chapter for that next week, I already have a few pages of it written up so don’t worry your pretty little heads about it. As what usually happens my brain spun up another delightful story and wouldn’t leave me alone till I wrote it down. I actually like this one, but I’m not sure how much I can do with it. We shall see, we shall see. So just go along for the ride and see if you like it. I warn you, this is going to get rather messy ^-^

***************************************

“You better run faster! I’m catching up, little bug!” a voice taunted behind her.

Taking the voice’s advice, the woman gave an extra burst of speed. Running. Running faster and faster. It was all she could do as she bolted down the long, dark hallway. There was hardly any light to help guide her. Only the sound of her running feet, her heaving, panicked breathing and the maniacal laughter of the maniac that was chasing her could be heard. *Why me? Why is he doing this to me? What have I done to deserve this?* the woman thought.

She cried out as something suddenly grabbed onto her ankle. She fell to the ground, letting out a squeak and a whimper. Looking back the woman shrieked when she saw a dark hand coming up through the floor and holding onto her ankle.

With frightened, doe eyes, the woman watched as the floor rippled and a figure slowly rose up through it. No distinct features could be made for his body was pitch black, darker than the most solid of shadows.

Heart racing, the woman stared at the only thing that wasn’t black. His blood red eyes. The two stared at each other as seconds ticked past. Finally, the cold grasp of shock released the woman and she screamed as loud as her voice would allow. Scrambling wildly, she tried to kick her foot from his grasp and get away.

A deep, hollow laughter rumbled from the assailant. His grip tightened around the ankle and with a jerk of his arm, slid the woman closer to him.

The hand released the appendage only to come up and cover the woman’s mouth.

“Hush, hush, pretty little bug. I’ve caught you, no need to struggle. My web is strong and solid. The more you struggle, the more you suffer,” the man purred and glinting, pointed teeth smiled down at his prey.

The woman whimpered and tried to squirm away from her attacker. Her attempts were in vain as a hand covered her upper body to still her, a hand too large for any normal human.

The woman said something, but her words were lost from the hand over her mouth.

“Hmm? What was that, dearest little bug?” the man asked and moved his hand only enough to let her speak.

“P-Please. Let me go. I-I don’t want to die,” she pleaded. Tears started to fall from her eyes and roll down her delicate skin.

The man chuckled, a low and pleasant sound. He began to stroke her hair as he leaned down. Close enough for his breath to tickle her ear.

“I would, little bug, I really would, but you see,” he said, a twisted white grin appearing from his darkened face, “we all must die. You just happen to be dying sooner than you planned.” He sat back up and the distorted grin widened. “Now, scream a little for me.”

The woman gasped and her eyes widened as a powerful, painful shock shot from the assailant’s large hand and into her stomach. A scream so shrill it could shatter ear drums tore from the woman. The feeling of her insides being ripped to shreds caused every nerve in her body to go haywire with pain.

Her screams were cut off and gurgled as blood sputtered from her mouth and splattered herself and her murderer. The blood that did not spew traveled back down the throat and pooled in the only lung that remained intact.

With a few last, choked breaths, the woman stilled and her body went slack. Her eyes glazed over as all life went out of them. They were frozen in a state of horror and fear, staring up into red eyes that were filled with delight.

“There, that wasn’t so bad, now was it, little bug?” the man asked in amusement. “Ah, death, so beautiful and splendid. My dark lover in a chaotic world of violence,” he cooed, stroking the woman’s hair again. His petting stopped when the body suddenly began to glow and radiate a soft, green light.

“Hmmm, green? Not bad, not bad at all. Master shall be pleased,” the man murmured happily. He then took in a deep, slow breath. The light turned into wispy green smoke and was inhaled until there was nothing left. With a pleasing growl he swallowed, letting out a content mewl.

In one fluid motion the man stood and cast one last glance down at the bloodied and lifeless corpse. Footsteps echoed as he went the way the woman had come. Shadows appeared and danced along the walls, filling the hallway and swallowing up what light there was.

“The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout. Down came the rain and washed the spider out. Out came the sun and dried up all the rain and the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again.”

The song filled the inky space eerily and hysterical laughter soon followed as the man’s body dissolved and melded into the darkness.

========================Prologue End

Is it wrong of me to be in absolute love with my evil, twisted, sadistic bad guys? And I wonder why my prologues are always so short *shrugs* Oh well. Heh so, as you can see this is a far cry from the humorous going-ons in “RiI” isn’t it? So just a small taste for what’s to come from this story. It’ll have its light sides and dark, I’m not one for just totally dark fics. I hope you liked it and I’d be extremely happy to hear what you think. Think it has possibilities? Or is it a flop? Feedback much appreciated. I’ll get the first chapter up once I’m finished with the next chapter of “RiI” See ya then!
