Vengeance Owned: Part Two
:::::::::::::
Anna Winchester pulled her coat closer around her slender frame as she hurried across the crowded parking lot of her gynecologist office. The day was dark and bitterly cold, and Anna had very little meat on her bones to shield her from the weather.
Shivering, she finally reached the front door and yanked it open. With a sigh of relief she stepped into the warmth of her doctor’s expensively decorated office. As usual, the office was full of people waiting to see one of the OB/GYN's, many of them pregnant women in various stages of gestation. A few looked as though they might pop at any moment.
Anna smiled as she stepped up to the receptionist window. “Hello Rachel.” She said, still shivering just a little.
Rachel Anderson smiled back at Anna. She was a long time patient and the two women had gotten fairly friendly over the years. “Hello Anna.” Rachel greeted her back. “How are you?”
“Freezing.” Anna said, but smiled as she did so. “I’m just happy to be inside. Looks like you’re pretty busy today though.”
Rachel nodded. “Honey, its been that way since we opened the door this morning. We’ve had a full house all day. You’re lucky you have an appointment. Most of the women here are just walk ins.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.” Rachel sighed. “It would seem that every fetus within a hundred mile radius chose last night to party.” She grinned. “Most of the patients today are just here to check that nothings wrong. Seems their little ones decided they wanted to come in for a visit today. I don’t believe we’ve ever had so many walk ins at one time before.”
“Strange.” Anna murmured.
Rachel nodded. “So far there’s been nothing wrong with any of them. It has put us a little behind nevertheless. I promise ill try to get you in on time though.”
“Thank you.” Anna smiled sadly, tucking one lock of brunette hair behind her ear. “I need to get back to the hospital to check on Jeremy.”
Rachel was automatically serious. “How is he doing?”
Anna shook her head. “Not well. The doctors still cant figure out what’s wrong with him.”
“I’m so sorry honey.” Rachel said grimly.
Anna stared at the floor. “There’s still hope.” She said, but her big brown eyes were misty when she finally looked up.
“Of course there is!” Rachel rushed to comfort her.
“Well.” Anna seemed to pull herself together with great effort. “Ill just have a seat then.”
Rachel watched as Anna found herself a spot between all the expectant mothers. The poor thing!
It must be so hard on her being around women about to give birth to healthy babies. Jeremy was Anna’s third child. The first two had died before they reached a year old of SIDS, and now Jeremy was in the hospital because Anna had found him in his crib with his lips turning blue and almost no pulse.
Rachel’s heart just broke every time she thought about what the poor woman had been through. Anna was such a tiny, mousy thing. It was hard to imagine her having the strength to withstand all the tragedy she had had to deal with in her life.
The waiting room really was crowded, so Anna was more than a little surprised when the nurse called her back just a few minutes later. She followed the nurse down a long, narrow hallway lined with doors sporting numbers . The woman stopped when they reached door number #13, and opened it to allow Anna to step inside ahead of her.
“Here you are Mrs. Winchester.” The nurse told her. “You may get undressed behind the curtain and just leave your clothes folded in the chair there.” She motioned towards a molded plastic chair that sat in one corner. “Then just put on one of these.” She held up a tissue thin paper gown.
Anna knew the drill. It wasn’t her first visit to see a gynecologist after all. She nodded her compliance.
“Then just have a seat on the end of the examination table and the doctor will be with you shortly.”
Anna nodded again and set about following the nurses instructions after the woman made a quick exit from the room. Soon she was outfitted in her little paper gown and sitting hunched on the end of the uncomfortably hard table. Bored, she played with the stirrups a little as she waited.
Surprisingly enough the doctor really did join her shortly. It was no more than ten minutes before he came bustling into the room, holding a clipboard and smiling broadly.
“Hello Anna.” The doctor stuck his hand out and Anna shook it somewhat tentatively. “My name is Doctor Milo.” He was a charming, handsome young man with black hair and startling blue eyes. “I know I’m not your regular doctor but we’re so busy today that Doctor Warren asked if I would mind doing your exam. If that’s okay with you of course...” He said with a pleasant smile.
“That.... that would be fine.” Anna sputtered. He really was good looking. “I’m in a little bit of a hurry anyway.”
“If you could just scoot back a little…” Dr. Milo helped Anna get her legs up and into the stirrups without too much discomfort. “A hurry hmmmm... Hot date? Scoot back down a little if you can...”
She wriggled her ass closer to the edge of the table. Anna chuckled in spite of herself. It was funny considering the position she was in. She quickly readjusted her face back to a more serious visage. “No actually... M-my son is in the hospital. I had just hoped to get back to him soon.”
“Oh... I’m so sorry to hear that.” Dr. Milo looked horribly embarrassed for making a joke when her son was sick.
“Its okay.” Anna reassured him. “You couldn’t know.”
The doctor slowly selected some lubricant and pulled out his instruments. “Your only child? What’s his name?”
“J-Jeremy…” Anna’s voice broke as she said her babies name. “Yes... he’s my only living child. I-I’ve lost t-two others to SIDS. A boy and a girl.”
“The doctors cant figure out what is causing the SIDS?” Dr. Milo was full of concern for her baby. Anna basked in the warmth and compassion emanating from the physician. She felt so nurtured and important. In general, people tended to overlook Anna, but they could be so caring and thoughtful if you had a sick child.
Tears streamed down her face. “N-no.” She whispered. “I’m so afraid Ill lose this baby too.”
“You must be devastated.” The doctor murmured understandingly. “Would you like to put this off until another time?”
“No.” Anna shook her head. “I’m here. Lets just get this over with.” She wiped at her eyes.
“Are you sure?” The doctor was practically overflowing over with sympathy.
Anna gave a long suffering sigh and squeezed a few more tears out of her eyes. “Yes.” She fairly sobbed.
“So be it.” Dr. Milo smiled warmly down at her. “I suppose it is time for this charade to end.”
“What do you mean?” Anna frowned as she squirmed in the metal braces. The damn paper always stuck to her ass.
“I mean.... ” Dr. Milo waved his hand and suddenly Anna found herself paralyzed. Completely unable to move or speak from her perch on the exam table. “Anna Lorraine Winchester, You have been judged and found guilty of the murder of innocents in the courts of both Heaven and Hell. Now... justice demands that you to pay for your crimes.”
A strangled noise escaped Anna’s throat as she stared up at the man who was now looming over her threateningly. His face elongated and warped as she watched, until it in no way resembled the handsome young man that she had met earlier.
“Ahhhhh Anna.” Milo patted her cheek almost fondly with the twisted claws that now served as his hands. “You would be doing so well right now if you were dealing with a human. The tears. The distressed, pain filled voice. You would fool almost anyone.”
Milo leaned down so that they were closer. The smell of sulfur engulfed her. “But you see Anna... you’re not dealing with a human at the moment. Humans... Bless their little hearts, have a tendency to believe what their eyes tell them is true, and also a great capacity to believe the things that they WANT to be true; even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.”
“Indeed Anna.” Milo smirked. “My greatest gift and most hideous curse is that I am forced to see the truth. The unvarnished truth for all of eternity. Unlike humans, Demons are not afforded the luxury of self delusion.” Wide, frightened brown eyes stared up at him. Gently he pushed a few stray strands of hair off of her forehead. “I SEE you Anna. I see all of you.”
Real tears slid down her face now as she finally realized that the creature in front of her was exactly what he claimed to be. “I see the girl you were.” He murmured softly. “I see the woman that you are.”
Milo sighed resignedly. “I also see the two huge stains on your soul that belong to the two babies that you murdered.”
Anna tried to shake her head no! It was a mistake! She could explain if he would just give her the chance!
Milo smiled wickedly. “You honestly think that you could, don’t you?” He laughed. “Do you sincerely think that you’re unique Anna? I’m sorry to have to be the one to break it to you, but you are not rare. What is rare is that it took three babies before I got to you.” The demon shrugged. “I stay so busy these days.”
“You see Anna.” Milo grinned and allowed more of his true demon visage to show. “That’s what I do. I settle scores.”
Long, incredibly pointed teeth filled a mouth that abruptly seemed to stretch from ear to ear. The pupils of his eyes began to glow bright red as he studied his prey. “You MURDERED those babies Anna. You’re well on your way to murdering a third and.... You’re here because you’re already planning your next pregnancy.”
Anna wanted desperately to deny it. She prayed to God for help.
Milo very nearly giggled.
He moved back down to the bottom of the examination table. He was taking a chance here, but he didn’t think it was a very big one. Anna was much too selfish for her prayers to make much difference.
Long, gnarled claws closed around the crank for the speculum and then it was viciously stabbed inside her. Milo smiled at her horrified face as he began to crank it out, further and further. Anna’s eyes became almost comically wide as she realized he had no intentions of stopping any time soon. Flesh ripped and tore as he continued far beyond the limits of her bodies ability to stretch. Blood poured down her buttocks and she could clearly hear the DRIP... DRIP... DRIP.... as it poured off the table and splattered to the floor.
“I suppose you’re wondering.” Milo said conversationally. “Why Hell would care whether you murdered two innocents or not.” *CRANK* “You see... you took two perfectly healthy babies and sent them straight to Heaven.” *CRANK* “Who knows what sins they might have been capable of if given the chance.” *CRANK* So you see Anna, to Heaven you’re a murderer, and to Hell you’re a thief.”
If she could have, Anna would have screamed until her lungs bled from it. The pain was beyond unbelievable, and somehow she knew that passing out would not be an option in this little drama.
“Either way; you’re not going to win this one I’m afraid.” Milo gave one last huge crank, and the sound of pelvic bones cracking echoed through the room. “And the verdict from above and below reads the same.”
Finally, she heard the grinding sound of the speculum being released as Milo seemed to feel that he had reached his preferred width. Anna had no doubt that you could have fit several basketballs in there by the time he was through. Anna was right.
Milo glanced up and let his eyes lock on Anna’s. “Vengeance is mine; sayeth the Lord. I WILL REPAY.”
It was the truth too. Technically, Milo worked for Hell, but nothing ever happens that God doesn’t know and sanction.
“Ever wonder exactly what he meant by that?” The demon hissed gleefully.
Never taking his eyes from hers Milo plunged one huge, knobby claw deep within the recesses of her savaged, fleshy tissue and groped around until he found the cervix. Long, razor sharp nails shredded the tender opening.
“Ahhhhhhhh...” Milo flashed her his gruesome, toothsome smile and Anna knew her time was nearly up.
He ripped the womb from her body with a loud squelching noise, and a river of blood exploded from between her legs right behind it.
Anna’s eyes began to glaze over as the crimson tide dribbled from her much abused vagina, and death finally came to claim her.
Milo leaned over to whisper in her ear. “See you in hell bitch.”
Anna's existence on earth might well be over, but Milo knew for a fact; her true suffering was only just beginning. He dropped the bloody glob of meat that had once held precious life to the floor disdainfully. His job was icky at times. Fun though.
Milo slowly transformed himself into something a little more pleasing to the human eye. This time he chose a female form, with a bulging tummy as his disguise. He slipped out of room number #13 and down the hallway without drawing any attention. After all, there was nothing particularly remarkable about him, and people really do see what they want to see.
He was just stepping out the front door of the office when the first shrieks sounded from the direction of room #13.
The demon really couldn’t help grinning. He patted his tummy affectionately. “C’mon Junior,” He quipped. “Lets blow this joint.”
Milo couldn’t afford to let himself get lazy. Another job was ALWAYS waiting; just around the bend.
