Angelique

Welcome to my first story posted on aff.net.

Yeah, this is from my deranged mind. The idea kinda popped into my head and I couldn't get rid of it. I just hope you like my take on things. And before anyone asks, no, there will be no smut in it. I cant right it no matter how hard I try.

The characters are mine. No stealing or I set Judas and Lucie on you.

My name is Angelique. Occupation: Goddess of Death.

A young woman stared in the mirror at her reflection. The stormy blue eye's stared back as their host as she applied black eye liner to create an Egyptian look. She opened her mouth slightly as she applied dark purple lipstick to her pale pink lips. Next she ran a comb through her tri-colored hair of black, white blonde and red. The colors streaked through her waist length hair.

"As usual... you look simply divine my deathly angel" A man from behind, placed his pale hands with black painted nails on her small shoulders. Its mess of black hair that tumbled a little past his shoulders framed his handsome face.

Angelique continued to stare into the mirror, not caring that she could not see the reflection of her companion. "Hello Judas. I was wondering when you would show up," she simply stated.

Judas chuckled slightly as he squeezed her shoulders gently before releasing her. He kept his place behind her as he watched. "Despite what you think, my deathly angel, you are beautiful."

She set down the brush and remained silent for a moment. "Judas, you know your flattery won't work on me. Death is not beautiful." She spoke softly before turning to look at the taller man. "An angel of death is not beautiful. We are horrific. Ugly. Terrible." She stared into his red eyes for a moment before moving past him, barely brushing her black Victorian gown against him.

Judas rolled his eyes slightly as he turned to watch her. His arms crossed over the black silk of his French styled shirt. Its lace cuffs and v-neck displayed an expansive amount of pale skin. "Come now Angelique, stop looking at yourself with eyes clouded by insecurity. You could rival the angel's in heaven with your looks. You could make the very Arch Angels fall for you, my beauty," he grinned as he saw the dark angel stop at the doorway. "The ones whose lives you take are very lucky to see you in their final hours, my love."

Angelique looked over her shoulder at her companion. "Judas, you truly are a silver tongued prince. Only Lucifer himself could do better. Now why are you here?" She turned to look at him.

He grinned slightly, showing his canine teeth, which were slightly pointed, more so than the average humans "Mentioning dear Lucifer, he's requested to see you, preferably as soon as possible."

She sighed softly and nodded before heading out the door. She moved gracefully across the room and out the main entrance, ignoring Judas as he followed a little ways behind her. She made her way down the cobblestone street, under red lamplights in the eternally dark land. She hailed a cab as it passed by. The mysterious hooded driver stopped the skeletal pair of horses and waited for her to climb in. No sooner had she and Judas sat down than they were off. Destination: Red Castle.

Angelique and Judas walked down a torch-lit hall, decorated in blacks, reds and grays. Soon they came to a large wooden door with carvings depicting the fall of Lucifer from heaven. She stopped before the doors and looked up at the ordinate knocker in the shape of a gargoyles head. "Angelique, leader of the Death Angels is here to see his grace, Lucifer. Let me in."

The gargoyle eyed her up. "You're late. The Prince does not like to wait. Milady." he growled out before swinging the door inwards to let her enter.

Judas rolled his eyes as he followed the Goddess of Death into the throne room. He kept his hands in his pockets. Looking very nonchalant as they stopped before a raised dais with a black stoned throne on it. It was covered in jewel toned silks and velvets.

A man was pacing the length of the dais. He looked no older than twenty-five with black hair streaked with natural blue highlights that went down to the middle of his back. His black, pupil less eyes made to stand out against his snow-white skin. The man was dressed in a beautiful, yet simple ruby red shirt and black leather pants with leather arm braces on each forearm. A gold earring hung from his right ear in the shape of an upside down cross.

The man stopped pacing as Angelique halted in front of his dais. "You wished to see me my lord," she stated, looking slightly indifferent. She didn't care if he was the ruler of hell. She was one of the few that didn't fear him. After all, she was one of the four deaths. Regardless of what he may try to do to her, she was truly immortal. Nothing could conquer and tame death. Not even the Prince of Darkness.

Lucifer nodded slightly. "Yes I did Angelique. You and your companion both. Though how you can stand that... thing's company is beyond me." He grinned as he stared over the angel's head to her companion.

Judas just grinned, not troubled by the attempted insult. "And how she can stand the goat in front of her always amuses me," He casually shot back.

Lucifer snorted slightly. "You know that was only in the middle ages. Humans were so easy to scare back then."

Angelique sighed. This 'battle of insults' always happened whenever all three of them were alone together. After all... they were all very old friends. Lucifer was the first. After he tempted man in the garden, she came into existence to fill the new need for death. Several centuries later, came Judas Iscariot, the traitor. Needless to say, all three were very good friends.

"Lucifer, Judas, Cut it out. I would like to know why I was summoned. I have a job to do unlike you two children," she stated calmly, giving Lucifer a level look.

Lucifer just let out a laugh. "So be it Miss Death." He settled down in his lush throne and leaned forward, resting his elbows on the arms of the throne, fingers laced together. "My spies on earth say there's a war going to start soon. Angelique, your job's going to become more hectic, of course. My spies in heaven also inform me that the Archangels are plotting, with out the big guy knowing, supposedly. "

Judas let out a low whistle. "Those guys don't know when to quit, do they?" He crossed his arms slightly and shook his head.

"Apparently not... its been what? Almost a century since the last war? " Angelique stated. "World War I and II I believe was the last time they tried something."

Lucifer nodded "Yes, and people still blame me for Hitler. Makes you wonder what the hells were those angels thinking and why in hell doesn't the big guy know about their scheming. Makes my rebellion look tame."

"Human's refuse to acknowledge that you are actually ...nice." Angelique stated. She technically was neutral; death was neither belonged to heaven nor hell. She just chose to reside here with one other of her Death angels. The other two resided in heaven.

Judas ran a hand thru his black locks and grinned a little. "Then we'll just have to undermined them again. No biggie. Any clue what they're planning Oh Mighty One?"

Lucifer shook his head. "Not a bloody clue. The spies are still working on that. " He sighed a bit. "Though, I was thinking... Angelique, can you contact the two heaven death angels? See what they know? "

She nodded. "I will contact Angela and Angelious. They may know. As for myself and Angelo, we will prepare for more work."

Lucifer nodded. "Good. From what I've heard from some new arrivals, there's a war in the Middle East. The idiot the Arch's got to start it was the same idiot they rigged the election for a few years ago." He rolled his eyes slightly. "Typical."

Angelique nodded slightly. "Yes, however, you realize, my lord, I am neutral no matter what. We have nothing but a job to do. "

Lucifer nodded. "Aware of that, I Am. " he grinned slightly. "Though for the mean time, let's have a party! It's almost All Hallow's Eve. Time for a celebration!" he practically shouted as he jumped out of his chair. "In two days, we will be able to walk among the living for a few days." He rubbed his hands together before snapping his fingers.

No sooner had the sound faded than an imp appeared at the edge of the dais with a scroll and a feathered pen with blood as ink. The imp waited, poised to write whatever his master wished.

Judas chuckled slightly and shook his head. "Typical Lucie. Always up for a party." He glanced at Angelique who had turned her head away from them slightly and her eyes closed. Her lips were moving soundlessly. Curious, he moved closer to her.

Lucifer also noticed and frowned a little. In all the years he'd known this deathly angel, he had only seen this 'trick' whenever something major was happening. He fell silent, trailing off from the list of orders he was giving to the imp.

Angelique suddenly gasped as her eyes shot wide open. She bowed forward, grasping her throat, unable to breathe.

Lucifer and Judas rushed to her side. They were shocked that she was actually gasping for breath angels don't breathe normally. Judas caught her as she suddenly started to fall. She blacked out completely.

He looked up at Lucifer and frowned a bit. "What in hell just happened?" He said as he looked down in confusion at the unconscious angel.

Lucifer shrugged. "Well we are in hell... but honestly, I haven't the foggiest. The only one that can tell us is Angelique."

Judas sighed slightly and picked up the petite angel "In the mean time, where do you want me to put her?"

"Midnight room should be good." He shrugged slightly and started to lead the way out of the throne room.

Judas nodded as he followed after the Prince of Darkness.

She sat up quickly, breathing heavily, glancing wildly around the deep blue room with its walls and ceiling painted like a clear night sky. She started to panic for a moment before realizing where she was. Letting out a sigh in relief as she sank back into the bed and closed her eyes a bit.

"Ah, our beloved death angel is awake," came the voice of Lucifer

Angelique turned her head to the side slightly and spotted Lucifer and Judas sitting beside her bed. She muttered as she rubbed her eyes, "I expect you want an explanation..."

"That would be ever so helpful." Judas said sarcastically as he leaned forward. His elbows resting on his knees as he waited for an answer along with Lucifer.

She sighed and sat up once more. "I was talking to Angelious. Rumor has it Raphael isn't happy. Something about a war to end all wars I didn't get all of what Angelious said before we were... interrupted by the Fates."

Lucifer frowned slightly, "What did the meddlesome old crones want?" He looked slightly curious. After all it wasn't every day the Fates actually warned someone instead of just doing. They were one aspect of life no one had control over, or could actually decipher.

Angelique remained silent for a moment before answering. "They gave us a warning... Death will no longer be needed in its present form." She drew a shaky breath as she rubbed her upper arms gently. "They also said that things would go back to what they once were before the days of old. "

Judas arched an eyebrow slightly. "Gotta love it when they're cryptic... though honestly that's easy to solve... but then again when the Fates are involved nothing is what it appears to be... though I don't get what they mean by 'Death will no longer be needed in its current form.' Do you know Lucie?" he looked at the Prince of Darkness curiously.

Lucifer nodded. "In fact... I do know... " He stated, trailing off when they heard Angelique gasp and suddenly let out a blood curdling scream.

They both turned in time to see her back arch and, pair of feathered, blackish, blue, wings tears out of her back, splattering blood everywhere behind her, yet none on her. Her hands were at her throat as she screamed. As sudden as the screaming started, it stopped. When she looked up at them thru a curtain of tri colored hair, they saw cat-like purple eyes.

Judas looked shocked as Lucifer sighed. "In fact, it's starting already. Angelique is resuming her proper form. All of the Death Angels were created of different magical creatures that represented the four elements. Angelique... was at one time a Griffon."

Angelique calmed down and looked herself over. Besides the wings, she was also sporting a lion's tail in colors, which matched her hair. She also noticed that she had fur and the starting of feathers growing in on her body. She was still humanoid thankfully. She looked up at the boys and smiled slightly. "Guess this is what part of the message meant. I suspect that the others are changing too. "

Lucifer nodded. "Most likely. We should find Angelo and bring him here. After all, his shape is fiercer and most likely to cause unwanted destruction until he gains control."

Judas looked at the two curiously. "Out of curiosity. What IS Angelo?"

"A dragon. He's Fire. Angelique is Wind. Angela is water and Angelious is earth." Lucifer answered him with a smirk. "Angela's a mermaid, Angelious is a unicorn. Any other questions Traitor?"

Judas smirked back. "Why, yes, Princey. What does the second half of the warning mean?"

Lucifer shrugged. "That's anyone's guess. I sure as hell don't know. "
