A Father's Love
A Father’s Love- Chapter 1
The sons and daughters of Master Ermine walked with pride. They were their father’s prize after a long life of work, pleasure, and achievements as a wealthy human among ruling vampires and it was a well-known fact that, with his accomplishments and attractive exterior, his children would someday make excellent companions to some very lucky members of the Vampire Council... or even the Monarch himself. Master Ermine would accept no less than the best for his beloved children.
The best of education for his eldest son and daughter, the finest clothes and tutelage in love for his middle daughter, and everything, anything his youngest son desired was given without a second thought. Quinlan... Little, flawless Quinlan, who so resembled Ermine’s last wife, Myrna.
Unlike Karly, Elle, and Amandine, who shared Ermine’s caramel skin and lithe form, Quinlan was a strange, pale boy; shorter than his siblings and round in all proportions, though everyone in the Ermine household would insist it was an attractive softness- anyone who dared say otherwise risked the rage of the Master himself. While servants often avoided Quinlan’s somewhat bug-eyed green gaze and his siblings teased as all siblings do, Ermine found nothing more charming than his youngest’s sweet face and crooked smile.
Yes, it could easily be said Quinlan was the favored one of the four.
That being said- outsiders had very little care for Ermine’s opinion when it came to standards for companionship. While Karly and Elle were traveling off to further their schooling, followed always by letters from suitors, and Amandine was flitting from mansion to mansion with her many lovers, Quinlan remained home with his father; content with having his every need met, but otherwise unacknowledged by the world as more than a cute joke and Ermine’s well-known soft spot.
oOo
Author’s note: Yes, this is a very short chapter, but I assure you it’s meant to be so. Tis a somewhat informative introduction to the little things that make up Quinlan’s life and I tried to fit in what I thought was needed without making it tedious. :P I’m not the best at beginning chapters, but I think it came out decent...
No pressure, but reviews are appreciated and make me feel good. Long ones sometimes even inspire me to write faster. ;) Don’t worry though; I don’t expect miracles from the start.
