Dark Desires
Chapter 1 Awakening
Chapter 1 Awakening
Izaac looked dully at his ringing alarm clock, as it was ringing. The buzzing sound was annoying and Izaac lazily reached for it. He took it firmly in his hand and tossed it onto the floor, the pieces shattering. This would be Izaac’s third alarm clock this week. He yawned and looked at the grey skies in the downtown area of Deling City. The vampire brushed his messy black hair into a more suitable hairstyle, “I need silver streaks.” He muttered, looking at the last picture he took with his band, The Harlots. Izaac was turning nineteen this week and soon he would have to find a better way of income. He had a small record label but they weren’t selling as much. Izaac left his room and knocked on the bathroom door across his room, “Occupied” a voice shouted.
“Damn Elazul! Hurry up!” Izaac screamed at Elazul, who was also in the band, and was the best guitarist in downtown. Elazul stepped out. Izaac stared at Elazul’s lapis lazuli colored eyes and his pale features. No wonder the women went crazy over him. “Calm down, don’t get your boxers in a bunch.” Izaac left the door open as he brushed his teeth, “We have to go to Live House tonight. Remember to tell Japas and Eiri that we have to go to the recording studio next week, and I have to make up some more lyrics.” Izaac moaned as they sat at the breakfast table. Elazul passed him some whole grain cereal and a packet of A+ blood. Elazul was Izaac’s best friend and roommate. Despite all the obstacles the two had to climb over they made it through the most dire of situations. Elazul just sat there gazing into space as he normally did, “Izaac,” He began to say but he trailed off as he watched Izaac eat. “Never mind Izaac.” He replied as the vampire demanded to know why Elazul stared at him like that.
When they were done with breakfast the two walked outside their apartment. Izaac held onto Elazul’s guitar. The two walked down the lofty streets of Deling City towards the underground club Live House. It was seedy little club but the people here knew exactly how to worship their entertainers as if they were gods.
Inside there was an insane throng of people writhing and moving to the beat of the heavily seat music. Izaac and Elazul looked on as the people threw their hands into the air and in the midst in this worship was the rival band, Crimson with the leader, Orion singing the song Taste Of Blood to the crowd. The screaming and cheering made Izaac seem as if he was nothing but a small fly. The guitarist of Crimson, Genji, looked at Elazul and Izaac and sneered as if they were just another group of new vampires who just got permission to feed. “Nothing is fine I’m crying Crimson blood, I can’t go on living this way ” Orion sang. As he sang the people stomped their feet and cheer as if he was Nox, the God of Darkness.
Genji stopped playing and Orion bowed to the people, “Thank you!” He shouted over the thundering crowd. The people screamed for more and more but Orion put the microphone down and walked off the stage with Genji and Cesario, the drummer. Orion moved his hand through his silver hair with black streaks and stared down at Izaac and Elazul. “ Give 'em hell kid.” He teased. Izaac didn’t seem too pleased with those words as the black clothed Orion walked to the resting rooms with his band.
Izaac and his band took their positions and awaited the crowd to be calm. The writing throngs of people sent Izaac into a deep like trance and he began to sing. Darkness began to envelop the vampire as he sang drowning out the wanting prayers of the crowd. As if the wanted more from their deity, Izaac whispered the words, “This is my life and this is my destiny...” The venue went awash and Izaac vanished after the song was finished. The Live House, its gods no longer present went back to its mundane reality. Izaac went into the waiting rooms where Orion and his band waited. “So Izaac how did it go out there?” Genji laughed. “Pretty good.” Elazul answered sharply. Cesario sniffed at the comment and picked up his cell phone. He dialed his girlfriend’s number, “Rubi, can you meet me tonight?”
Orion snickered at the comment and walked out, “See ya guys I have important business to take care of.” Orion walked out and began to hum and old song “Fithos lusec wecos vinosec.” As he moved to his car he opened the doors and drove throughout the highways. Izaac began writing his lyrics hours after the club had closed for the night. “This song is gonna rock their world.” he cheered. Happy for himself and these newfound lyrics, he had to think of a melody.
Izaac began to sing aloud but he was off key, “Your singing is terrible...” A voice teased. The dark teasing came from one person, Orion, “Who are you to judge me?” Izaac snarled and ran up to him dropping the paper. “The words you sing have no meaning what so ever, you need more practice boy.” Izaac growled his red eyes glazed over as he stared at the nineteen year old vampire. “Don’t worry you’ll reach stardom soon...”
