The diamonds that fall from your eyes
Hi I wrote this ages ago, it’s got nothing to do with sex and some may find it a bit too soppy, but I gave it a go. If you wish to review I’d be over the moon, hope you enjoy.
p.s Maria Elena darling, thanks for all your help
The diamonds that fall from your eyes.
There she stood, looking down from the cliff at the sunset; it was such a familiar place, she felt so safe and tranquil, that she could no longer keep on the mask that she held for others and gave way to her tears of sorrow. Last time she was here it was with Him, with the only man who she had truly loved and had been loved back in return. Here he had asked her to become his bride, and she in that moment of happiness had felt as if she could have touched the very Gates of Heaven, so great was her joy. A year had passed since then, and just a week ago that dream of a perfect life had been shattered by a hit and run driver. He had seen the car swerving and coming towards her, and pushed her away from danger. And as soon as his body hit the floor it started raining, maybe because the sky knew she could not cry so much was her pain. And she had lived like an empty shell until now.
Now, in front of that sunset as red as blood, the same blood that haunted her dreams, that took away her love, she finally let go. He had always said he was her guardian angel, he said he would always watch over her and protect her: he kept his word. With his last breaths, his last words were “I love you… don’t cry…we shall meet again…my love, we shall meet again…” She had kept her word too, she hadn’t shed a tear, until then, when she suddenly realized, as if waking from a dream that they would never meet again. Never again would he hold her in his arms, she would never feel his heartbeat while resting on his chest, and never again would they kiss, those sweet kisses full of innocence but yet so passionate, that only he seemed able to give. She couldn’t stand it, she couldn’t!
And all this time, since it happened she had promised not to cry, promised not to shed a single tear; and what did the others think, that she was insensitive, that she was selfish, that she had no heart. That wasn’t so far from the truth, her heart was there, but broken, dead. And her soul was weeping when her body could not; she was crying, her cries were so anguished that probably not even the angels in Heaven could stand it. But she didn’t care, she was lost to everything and everyone now.
Her family didn’t speak to her anymore, not even her parents, they were appalled that their daughter would not weep for her late husband, but she couldn’t weep. Yet now she was, and those tears that were leaking from her eyes seemed to be tears of blood as they caught the light of that beautiful sunset. Yes, so beautiful, so sweet. But it was about to finish, it was about to end…she could see the rays getting lower and lower and the sky ever more darker.
She could see some stars, who seemed to try to attract her attention away from that red sun, as if trying to comfort her. She smiled even though the pain did not lessen, it almost seemed to grip her more, it was burying her in her grief. Soon she said, the pain will stop, it must stop. But she knew it would not. She would have to end it.
Oh, the sunset had ended, the Night was around her, surrounding her with it’s soft darkness, she would not be able to see anything soon, but then, she noticed a pale light behind her, a silver light…that seemed so unnatural. And looking up there was the moon. But a moon like you have never seen, so big, so pale it seemed to glow in the sky a long with all those little diamonds. The moonlight was covering her, illuminating her, and those tears that until now were like blood now seemed like pearls of light, or like those diamonds up in the sky.
She was amazed to see that the moonlight had surrounded her, it was embracing her. And then she saw Him. It had to be a dream, her poor mind had finally given in to the grief. Yet he seemed so real, just like the first time she saw him; the first time they came here; and last time when he proposed, a white rose in one had and a small diamond ring in the other. She had always loved white roses, but she had never told him, it seemed he already knew. And there he was again, a white rose in his hand. “Didn’t I tell you we’d meet again?” “Your not real” she said and once again the tears flowed with renewed vigour “You can’t be real” How strange the moonlight seemed to cover them both, and it grew brighter. “But why are you crying?” “I love you.! I love you but you are no longer here, you are no longer mine! You are just a part of my heart, that doesn’t want to let you go!” He started walking towards her “No stay away! I can’t stand losing you again! I don’t want to wake up from this dream!” “But what if it is not a dream?” He asked sweetly tilting his head slightly, making him look so adorable, he always did that when he wanted his own way. “Please don’t. Please go” “No, I love you, and we won’t leave each other ever again.” He was only a foot away, he looked solid. And then he let the rose fall, that beautiful rose and he embraced her.
He was so real, he was like she remembered and then he kissed her. Yes that kiss, so sweet… so passionate, but he seemed innocent like a little boy. It had to be him, no dream could be this real. She touched his face: so smooth and soft. It was truly him. And though she was still crying, those silent tears that had been flowing down her face all evening, she continued, even though this time it was through happiness. He held her in his arms, so strong and warm, she felt so light. “Don’t cry my darling. I can’t stand it.” “It is you. How?” “I always told you I was your guardian angel. I fell in love with you, I decided to meet you. You loved me in return and those years we spent together were the most wonderful in all eternity. But I could not love a mortal, no angel can. But seeing me sacrifice myself to save you, struck the Lord as the act of someone in love. A pure love, not contaminated with lust. That’s why he has given me this chance.”
“It can’t be true.” “Trust me my darling, come with me and we will be truly happy, for all eternity, always together. And death and illness will no longer affect you, my love. Will you come?” “Where?” “To the sky of course, the sky” And looking up she saw a path made of moonlight and stars. “How can I get up there?” “Never fear my love, I will carry you. I will never let you go.” “Yes, never let me go. Hold me.” After kissing her again, he let go and walking towards the cliff stared in the heavens and light seemed to issue from him, revealing two snow white wings, made of feathers and light. He spread them out and lifted himself from the ground. “One last thing: no more tears. There is no need to weep any more. Besides there are enough diamonds in the sky, to have your beautiful tears to join them.” Wiping her face with her sleeve she smiled, and started walking towards him. At the edge of the cliff she looked in his reassuring face. “I will never let you go. Come on” And she jumped into his arms, off the cliff, to find her self in his embrace surrounded by light.
No one ever saw her again. And when people went to that cliff, they found a white rose plant; roses so white and pretty that in the dark they seemed to glow; and they grew by themselves and they could not be cut, no matter how hard one tried. But that wasn’t the only thing they found there, amidst the roses, you could see a feather, a long white feather, that glittered like diamonds.
