A Blank Canvas

A/N: This is dedicated to my friend Jamie

A Blank Canvas

Fragmented memories clawing up from the earth
Like dark spires of hate reaching for a long forgotten heaven
Broken promises like stardust turned to ash
As the dying sun paints a bloody trail across the dead sky

Can there be no beauty in this place?
Gazing out across a sea so empty it leaves you broken and alone
Is the art of kindness to be torn from us so easily
Only to be replaced by a feeling so fleeting it hurts?

Rend from your soul this portrait of ruin
A canvas scarred by pain and fear
Let time self destruct and let the past be immolated by the flame of your heart
And reach for a hope that lies beyond the stars

An act of kindness will be the first brush stroke on a now empty canvas
Heaven will be rebuilt once again in the vision of the Creation
Let the light of a new day warm your heart as you move forever forward
The tears of the past lost under the sky so blue

A/N: Don't ever give up. You are a beautiful, loving, valuable person. No matter what happens in the past, the future will always be a blank canvas on which to create your own heaven.
