“Youth”
I’m a 21st century, cellular boy
A child of the digital age
I know not how to live but my room is full of toys
I don’t work for my money, I never break a sweat
Met makes my deacons and I blindly follow
Others suffer in vein, but I show no concern
Because I cant miss another episode
I’m a 21st century cellular boy
Today I watch in horror
As the towering shadow of crisis
Looms over the land I love
America is held in the cold clutches of fear
But we will survive
From behind a curtain of clouds
The pale moon descends
Bathing the plains in a dull Hugh of golden twilight
Unveiling all
The demon lies within the shadow
Down the darkest of hallways
Behind the twilight
Fear is ally; it is his weapon
He is caged within my soul
Fear grips me
Clutching me with its sharp claws
Cutting away my air
Stripping me of my freedom
And stealing my dignity
Will I overcome?
Or be forever enslaved
He stood alone; where they had bathed in yellow moonlight
He stood alone; where they had gazed at the pearly clouds
He stood alone; where they had seen the lonely skyline
He stood alone; where the car lost control
He stood alone; as he read his loves headstone
He stood alone
Though the world has corrupted you
Though the bitterness flows within you
Though the hurt still runs free on the plains of your heart
Though you are emotionally damaged
Thought you are mistreated
I will forever love you
Propaganda rages as the media descends lies upon us
They twist the words of truth to manipulate public opinion
Welcome to today's youth:
Digital toys, obsessed with celebrity girls and boys,
No patriotism, beliefs or creed; only know self absorption and greed
London was terrified; while we were safe at home
Near the ridge of the old war torn fort
The souls of the forgotten soldiers sing
The raise their once proud flag to its former glory
And march to the beating drums of war
The will of fallen soldiers never fades
It troops on forevermore
‘For Rachel #2’
The torch of vibrant passion had faded from his eyes
In its place lies only emptiness
The spark of life has fallen to darkness
A hollow loneliness is all that remains
He fustily longs for his love to return
And heal his open wounds
‘Story of Old Glory’
She's been there during prosperity
She's been there during desolation
She's been raised high with pride
She's been burned and tainted
She has much felt love and even more hate
But as life moves forward at its frenzied pace
Let us not forget to smile at her and utter our thanks
‘Stranger’
As we passed upon the stairs
I looked into his eyes
I saw a thousand sorrows
Felt a thousand pains
Under the echoes of his passing footsteps
I could hear his soul crying out,
All the while I stand awestruck
Of a stronger man than I
‘Eulogy of an era’
A figure sits in silence
Thinking of days past
His hero's mystique has crumbled
His lover's faded away
He longs to again see his peers
But they have fallen victim to the years
"Predators"
My sins of the past pursue me; never yielding to rest
They wait in shadows, in the darkness of alleys
To reveal themselves and bring judgment upon me
"Oblivious"
As his world is filled with brutality
He smiles in warm sunlight
As the lust for possessions pillages hearts
He smells the sweet scent of a rose
As tyranny reigns, women are raped, and children abused
He looks into the twilight's beauty
"What if..."
A million thoughts were never entertained
Ten thousand words never breathed
A thousand pages never written
A hundred notes never played
Ten lives never lived
One bleak, lackluster world
"Building blocks"
Enveloped in envy
Covered in lust
Draped in betrayal
Composed of deceit
Reinforced by rage
A product of her environment
"Happiness?"
Though he stands with the one he loves
Emptiness is felt
Thought his wallet is filled with money
His soul is hollow
Thought his senses are again dulled
His spirit is never free
Though his face is often smiling
His sorrow never yields
"Phantom"
From amongst the sinister ash
The ghosts of flame peer
Their once crimson embers, longing to be rekindled
Their cinders hunger once more for the torrid inferno
Their souls are tormented by their former glory days
While their hearts are cold with a bitter sadness
‘Never stop looking’
Black smoke fills demented skies
Overshadowing a thousand lies
But beyond the turmoil and pain
A man looks for a joy, thought in vain
Searching the cold city streets
He asks for this lost joy to all he meets
They mealy smile, and look away
As joy shall never reach this day
In the concrete jungle, he seeks to find
The world's joy that it left behind
He searches till is beard is long and white
Never yielding his search as day becomes night
This search for lost joy killed the man
A search most would never understand
As he lay dying he did see
The forgotten joy of you, him and me
‘Thank you’
This is for the heroes
This is for the patriots
This is for the fallen
Of wars past and present
May honor follow your name?
May justice die not with you?
May freedom survive from your sacrifice?
May you not be forgotten?
‘Skin deep’
I am a rebel with no cause
An artist with no talent
A writer who cannot read
A poet who cannot rhyme
A voice that cannot sing
A dollar never spent
A fire never started
A door that remains closed
Potential never reached
I am what u wants to see
Nothing greater; nothing less
Enveloped by mediocrity
A drain on society
Stereotype me.
‘Lifeless observations’
We see the glistening stars above
We see the multicolor sunrise drape over us as it reveals
The sapphire sky, filled with a patchwork of pearly clouds
The mighty armies of pines lie before us,
The majestic purple mountains, beyond us
Lush emerald grass surrounds us as
Smiling flowers rise amongst us
In death, from our graves,
We see the world's beauty that we took for granted in life.
In a world of contempt and darkness
A single light has shined upon me
It has shown me kindness I though was gone
Shown me love vie never known
Sorrow has left this bitter soul
You have changed ones hard life
Thank you for all you’ve done
You have truly earned the title "mom"
‘Under construction‘
Upon the backs of endless slaves was this world's road to riches paved
Controlled by men caring not for whom they hurt and instill pain, only caring for financial gain
The corrupt spill the blood of the innocent, their names are too numerous to be in print
As it is in nature the strong rise above the weak, making their existence bleak
‘For Rachel‘
I’m in love with an enigma
Something that will never again be
She has faded from my sight
An into the depths of nothing
I only hoped she would have taken me with her
‘Return to daylight’
Silence clothes the windswept plains
As the twilight begins to fade
The stars slowly disappear
A hint of crimson peaks over the horizon
The pale moon fades
An opulent crowd of colors inches across the sky
The cool air is ushered away
Replaced with a leisurely morning warmth
The almighty sun awakens
And ascends to his post
To watch over another day
‘Truth’
The world has not enough gold
To build the trophy you should hold
Your inner strength unmatched by any
Your exterior beauty all do envy
Your perseverance, ever beating
And your will power, never fleeting
And inspiration to all, you should be
But if not all your greatness has impacted me
‘Inspire’
Hearts are meant to break, if only to mend anew
Trust is meant to be twisted, if only to be tempered stronger
Life is meant to hurt, so your scars can guide others
Too determined to submit
Too resolute to surrender
Your impact has been profound
Your purity has not gone unnoticed
I know what you hold inside
And Thanksgiving’s prayer leaves my lips every time I am near it.
