The Chronicles of the Nightshade Clan
Chapter One
“Kayla sat quietly behind a trashcan behind a nightclub. She tried to keep her breathing low. She moved her dark brown hair from her Japanese eyes. They were green like her father’s, like her uncle’s, like any other psychic in the world. She had a fair complexion and a beautiful figure. She was also still wearing her school uniform; her short skirt rose up as she shifted her position.”
…
I tapped my pen on the table for a while as I tried to think of how to word my thoughts of what Kayla should do next.
You see, I’m a writer, or at least want to be.
My name is Lilith Antane. I have light brown hair and green eyes. I’m sixteen but I look a bit younger than I am. I have small boobs for my age but I have normal sized hips, and, I’m a bit short. Yes, I'm a little underdeveloped. I have already gotten one book published; it was about the nightshade clan and what happened to them along time ago. By the way, I'm human. Oh! And the Nightshades are a clan of shadow demons. There are four princes, Akito, the oldest, Azule, Cyrus, and Acuo, the youngest. Acuo was banished a long time ago because he loved a human girl named Jade. And Akito…. Oh, Akito. The hottest thing to ever exist, or rather, not exist since I made him up. I write fiction, and everyone knows there are no such things as demons.
Right?
Well, even though I know that to be the case, I still have a crush on Akito. I know, it’s weird. But if you could see into my mind, and see not only what he looked like but also who he was you wouldn’t blame me. The next story, the one I was working on, was supposed to be about him and his relationship with Acuo.
Kayla will tie in with Acuo. She is supposed to be the reincarnation of his dead human lover, Jade. But I won’t have him figure it out for a while.
Oh! And did I forget to say that Akito has an older sister? Her name is Sonia. She is Acuo’s full sister. You see, all of the Nightshade children are half siblings, sharing the same father, Bane.
I got back to typing my story into the school computer. Just a bit more. Lunch will be over soon. I thought to myself.
“Suddenly Kayla felt the deep chill of a demonic aura from behind her. She whirled around and barely dodged the attack of the lower class demon. Since it was a lower demon it looked more like a child’s science project gone terribly wrong than the kinds of demons she was used to.
“Normally she would have let the demon pass through the Hunter territory. Kayla was from the Hunter clan. Kayla Rose Hunter. The Hunter clan was the strongest demon hunting clan, rivaled only by the Crimson Cult. The Hunter clan was known for its understanding towards demons. It was even rumored that they were part demon themselves. They only hunted demons that killed for pleasure, or that posed a threat to the human race. The never hunted demons that drank blood just for a meal, not a pastime.
“Kayla spun on her heels and jumped onto the trashcan. She then took out her two guns and fired a few rounds at the thing. The bullets went right through the creature, leaving gaping holes in its gut.
“The wounds then healed up. This thing had taken the lives of many humans in a short amount of time so it was stronger than Kayla had predicted.
“She had no choice. Actually, she was glad it came to this. She pulled a large rocket launcher from her back, loaded a blessed rocket into the gun, and fired. In all of her 17 years of life Kayla Hunter had never heard of any demon surviving a blast from this rocket launcher. She smiled to herself for a second as she felt this adrenaline rush trough her body. Then, she merely stated ‘Rest in peace, devil’
“Kayla then took the crucifix from her neck and laid it on the corpse of the demon. She watched as it sizzled and melted. She really did hate hunting demons. Those rumors about her family were true. One of her ancestors was a demon. In fact he lived with her family. He made their artillery. His name was Marcus.
“When the corpse was finally done melting Kayla grabbed her cross and rinsed it off in some holy water. She then picked up her backpack and headed home to do her homework before it got too late at night.” I typed.
I then clicked the save button and took my disk out of the computer. I would try to write more later. I already knew what would happen. Like with all of my stories, the ideas just came to me. Not like inspiration though. They just sort of… well, popped into my head, usually in my dreams. But I knew I wanted Kayla to meet Acuo. I already knew how too. He would pose as a human and enter her high school. He would be in her class too. Then they would become friends. I know it sounds stupid but that’s because you’re not reading it. I’m just saying what will happen. All I needed to do now was decide on how to word it. After all, I do want my characters to appear realistic.
