CHPT 1

“But Momma!!!” Aleca’s daughter yelled from her bedroom.

“No Kaiy. Let’s go NOW silly.” Aleca yelled up the stairs. Her daughter could be so difficult sometimes. She had already missed her transport to schooling and now she was going to make her late to work too. “Kaiylee Elizabeth Cain!”

Kaiy giggled as she descended the stairs “Aleca River Cain!” Aleca shook her head to hide her amusement and held out a small pink coat to her 6 year old while she held her coffee cup in the other hand.

“Come on silly. Time to go. Momma is going to be late.”

“Don’t wanna...”

“And pray tell, why not?”

“School sucks monkey anuses...”

Aleca almost choked on her coffee upon hearing her daughter swear. She’d never been one to discipline her. “Okay kid let’s GO,” laughed Aleca.

Kaiylee took the coat and buttoned it up. Grabbing her backpack she followed her mother out the door to the car. Aleca buckled her daughter into her seat and then got into the driver’s side. ~Stinking old model, why can’t I just get an autopilot model. So much easier...~ she thought to herself.

It was hard enough to get a car these days. Aleca had bought the car after Kaiylee\'s father went away... Aleca.... Aleca had done just fine however. Finished her training, worked in the agency. Everything was fine.

Except of course her lack of love life. This was not due to Kaiylee. Kaiylee was the last reason why she didn’t date. She just hadn’t. Not in a long LONG time. She felt no need to. She especially felt this way after people bothered her about it.

They arrived to the huge building, once a government building, that was Kaiylee’s school.

“How about you be good okay?” Aleca said smoothing Kaiy’s hair.

“I guess, but if another boy says something about Johnny I need to hit them since Johnny can’t!” Johnny Montgomery was Kaiylee’s best friend who was also confined to a wheelchair.”

“Oh Kaiy...” Aleca responded in an attempt to hide how proud she was of her daughters attempt to protect her friend. She looked up to see Johnny’s mother pull up. Although their children were friends, they had never taken a liking to one another, it was just too odd, the age difference. Kaiylee had also noticed her friend had arrived and quickly turned to her mother.

“I heart you Mommaroo.”

“I heart you Kidderoo.”

Kaiylee laughed and quickly left the car. Aleca drove away laughing to herself.

“Morning Agent”

“Morning Chief”

“How’s the kid?”

“Well a whirlwind as usual if that is what you mean.”

Aleca’s boss laughed and sat on her desk, watching her clean her guns. “Yes yes.... Well I am here to announce a new Agent has arrived to try and take you out of a job.”

“Nice one Jonathan. Who is he?”

“Well join me in my office and you can find out yourself. He is taking the extra desk in here so you may as well be introduced formally.”

“I ‘pose....” She put the gun back together and after putting it back in its holster she followed Jonathan out of her office to his down the hall.

She had loved her job from the moment she was told her training was over and done and she had passed, with flying colors. Jonathan, though sweet, was her boss and therefore no attraction had ever formed, atleast not on her part that was for sure. She had however become good friends with him during her training. Made it easier to take his shit every now and then.

“Anyways who know I might make the two of you partners. God knows you need one.” Jonathan laughed alluding to her past insistence she didn’t need one.

“No!”

“Aleca....”

“I don’t need one. Missions are bad enough as it is and I don’t need someone to hold me back or be slow or be a pain in my....”

She had stopped dead in her tracks upon entering Jonathan’s office. There sat Ryan Slater. Her old flame. The man who broke her heart. Kaiylee’s father.

“... Ryan?....”

“So you remember him? Great!” Jonathan exclaimed as he sat at his desk.

Jonathan had no idea Ryan was Kaiylee’s father. He had had no idea one of his best agents had been sleeping with a recruit years ago. One of the best damn recruits the agency had had in ages. He didn’t know what he was doing when he had sent his agent to Berlin for 6 years to track the man on the top of their list of wanted men in those days. He was forced to send his agent at the last second, in the middle of the night, due to security concerns. No one was ever told why he left. No one asked. But that mission was over. And now he had 2 amazing agents in his division. ~Aleca better realize why it’s a good idea for her to be HIS partner. These two will do great....~ he thought to himself.

Ryan studied Aleca for a while. Nothing had changed about the woman who had been the only image in his mind for 6 years. Her light brown hair, her tan skin. Her body- long legs, big ass, big chest. He looked at her face. No smile. Just horror which turned into anger which then turned into indifference. He hadn’t expected a welcoming party but this hurt.

During this time Aleca felt her heart pound immensely. Ryan. Her Ryan. Kaiylee’s father.

She remembered the day he stopped returning her calls. The night he didn’t visit as planned. The day he didn’t show up to the agency. She hated him. She couldn’t imagine a good reason why he would not have said even goodbye, even if she was at the agency and knew that sometimes she would be required to disappear. Kaiylee was a child of the state. Due to Aleca’s special circumstances and Jonathan appeal to the government to keep Aleca and take on Kaiylee, if Aleca was to disappear, so was Kaiylee. Kaiylee called it dying. Kaiylee many a time had died. She loved those times since she lived deep underground with a guardian in the living areas of the agency. She was schooled there which basically meant no school at all in her child eyes.

Aleca had never told Ryan she was expecting. Ryan had no idea.
