night
night fell over town
and i know i’m gonna drown
as darkness washs over me
bathing reality away
these shallow waves meant to allay
dip me into a stormy sea
when wonted glow flows through the air
i wonder if you’ll ever care
tangled up in moist sheets
i cling tightly to my beads
enveloped in shame i try to claim
that this is no game as i whisper your name
dawn came as a surprise
but there’s no need to rise
when the door clicks shut
leaving me to rot
