She walks through the world like a dream among the waking.The colors around her blur
like a water-color painting.She sees the world as a deformed reality,a dream
among the dreaming and real among the waking.She doesn’t really care if
she has no friends.as long as she dreams,as
long as she can believe in fairy tails,nothing matters to her.
She likes to dance between the raindrops,laughing and windmilling
about while smiling like a broken china doll.She spins in a continual circle and even as she
stops she’s still dizzy.She’s always dizzy.
She walks around bare-foot,and even though her feet
bleed,and leave crimson stains on the ground as her soft foot pads are broken by the
shattered bottles that litter the floor,she walks on never really feeling,just smiling.
As she wanders the park kneeling in flower beds,she fancy’s she sees
fairies dancing in intricate circles to a music that only they,and she,can
hear.She even fancy’s that she to is one.She’ll put on
one her dead mothers dresses and make a crown out of the weeds that litter
the unkept front yard of her and her father’s house.
Then she’ll run through the yard,her arms out in the air like wings and
pretend that she’s a faerie,and once in a while she’ll curtsy to unseen kings and
queens before continuing on her way.
And through the yelling she can barely hear,
asking her questions to which she has no answers,she still smiles.
And even though the she can vaguely tell she’s being shaken
and slapped across the face she continues to smile.
And through the blackness that’s quickly consuming her,she
smiles blankly,like a doll that a child throws away when they get tired of it.For
what is she but a old and broken doll?
And one day,as an old house,abandoned for years,is being
teared down,the workers discover a unmarked grave where the body of a
young girl still smiles,even in death.
