Biographies, Billboards and Banter
Travelling along this adopted highway
virtue caught in the daily road rage
graced by endless vigilance and blank stares
from weary travelers inbound and out
and the airwave preachers
giving sermon to their hyperbole,
laying blame to anything they can use as a sacrifical lamb
comforting me like a drive-by shooting
properly placed billboards come to be the focal points
reminding me that Hooters is the cure
for the common restaurant and
American Express can now be used here on earth
along with Miller Brewing Company
trying to convince me that less filling and great taste
is more satisfying than
less taste and greater fulfillment
and as movement progresses slowly forward
over this concrete pasture
the dairy adage just passed argues their
great taste is "in the cows"
while finally the latest commitment to our public safety
promises that we shall "hear no evil"
when tuned to Catholic Family Radio
which should make little boys feel more comfortable
