Scratches

Scratches ever present on my heart.
Tearing at it, ripping it to shreds
But still I smile, ignoring the pain
And as my heart slowly bleeds
I know these scratches will heal

Pain pulling at my heart
Constantly battling me for ownership
Still I'm laughing, trying to forget
Slowly I'm losing this war
Yet I know in the end, I will come out alright

Guilt, weighing my heart down
Bent over, back aching from the weight
And still my eyes shine though, it's starting to fade
Now I can't hold myself up anymore
But don't worry about me, I'll stand straight soon

Hardships are shattering my heart
Like a vase it's cracking
But I'll sweep up the pieces hide 'em from this world
Give me time and I'll put it back together

Love, my heart won't allow
Pushing it away and locking it out
Slowly though my walls crumble
Breaking them down and sneaking in
And then my scars reopen
