Shadows on My face

Shadows flash cross my face.
And I find it hard to breathe.
My throat is so parched. So dry. So dry.
I feel cold, oh so cold.
My fingers and toes are numb.
Why do I feel this way?

I'm lonely. Lonely inside and out.
All my reasoning has abandoned me.
And I am alone. All alone.
Alone despite this overcrowding
thought is my mind.
Overwhelming and drowning me.

Leave me alone! Leave me alone!
I don't want to think.
It hurts, hurts too much.
My mind is nothing more than
a battle ground. A war zone.

Why? Why am I tortured so?
What crimes have I committed?
Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!
Please go away.
I think I prefer the shadows
on my face.
