Lies
He lies awake at night
Watching her sleep
Slowly he traces her face
Whispering her name out loud
Trying to convince himself
Still he knows this is a lie
Closing his eyes, he sees another
He can almost feel her touch
Hear her voice and taste her kiss
Deep down he feels guilty
Not wanting to hurt the one in his arms tonight
Yet he cannot go on living a lie
He knows he must face the truth
Slowly he leaves her side
Gives her a quick kiss on a delicate cheek
It's all he can do to keep from crying
As a smile forms on her loving face
Trapped in her sweet sweet dreams
Not knowing her world is falling apart
Yet this is how it must be
At the door, he turns around
Tears running down his face
All she ever wanted was love
She didn't ask for any of the pain he gave
So many times he made her cry
And she always forgave him
He was all she ever wanted
His words of good bye break the silence
She will now wake alone
Awake to an empty house
Learn his love was a lie
But for now she stays safe in her dreams
A place where she can't be hurt
Where he will always love her
