Wilted
Wilted flowers,
carnations of red and white,
limp...
with brown curled edges,
hang over the vase.
Not yet crisp as autumn leaves
but well on there way.
The table on which they sit,
alone...
in a room unused,
not unlike my heart.
Yet,
the baby's breath
standing tall and looking well,
still hold out for more water
and in that I find hope.
