The Sin of Vanity

The Sin Of Vanity (Ch 1)

Hiro Tsyunaku regretted turning out the way he was, he once had it all, love, fame, riches. But it tore all away, he took everything for granted. Not a thing in the world can change who or what he is now but he is not the same as he was. The caring, helpful, once kind-hearted Hiro turned into the dark, brutal, and sinister man we see today. And we see it everyday. People killing, fighting, torturing, wasting away their lives for a chance at it again. Pride is not Hiro Tsyunaku's sin, nor is it being different. Tsyunaku's sin is one that none of us thought ever to commit. We thought it to be such an inhumane thing that no price could ever pay for.
This sin, is immortality. To get life, you have to take it. You have to live off the failed lives of your victims. Murdering whoever you can to keep what makes you remain pure, to stay the way you are. But beware, this is not a sin because of the deaths you commit, this is a sin of vanity. And this, is it's story.

"Hiro? Hiro what is it? Come to bed.." The tall redheaded man groaned as he sat up, scratching behind his ear and messing with the silky locks of red hair, squinting with his green eyes to see his lover awide and awake, standing out on the chesnut balcony again. He followed him, the silk whit sheets covering his bare flesh, he wrapped it around them both, his arms looped around the long-black haired one's neck. Resting his head on his shoulder tenderly. "..Hiro? Are you alright?" he asked looking up at him curiously, like a curious cat wondering where his yarn went. and wondering why he didn't answer him before.

"Yeah Julio, I'm fine." Hiro replied softly as if getting out of a daze, then, looking down back at him with his ocean blue eyes sparkling in the moonlight. He never knew why Julio worried so much, but then he could never remember how he got to the balcony in the first place. Maybe it was the moon, the pearled moon which is so cold, deep, and dark with permission. The mystery of it intrigued him probably, but taking interest in the moon? Maybe he wasn't so well as he thought he was when he came out here in the first place. He just walked out, as if under a spell as he slowly walked to the balcony, then started his staring contest with the moon. "I was just.. looking at the moon again." he replied bashfully, the rose-color forming at his cheeks as he smiled ruefully at his husband, like a wilted rose turning the soft shade of red again. They had met back in high school, they were both in art class. Hiro took a liking into Julio's artistic talents since Hiro couldn't even draw a pony that wouldn't look quite right and ended up looking like a dead rabbit, while Julio took interest in something other than the art, Hiro wasn't good, but Julio liked watching him, he helped him day to day, cherishing every moment he could touch him, hold his hand to help him make the long strokes of the river. Then he finally gulped up the courage to ask him out. They started going out, learning to love each other, learning each others secrets, desires, fears, and in a matter of two years they were married. It was hard at first, because Hiro was a model so he was hardly home as to Julio who was a painter and stayed in his studio at home while Hiro was away, but they worked around it and had a stable life. Except for the fact that Hiro would wander off every now and again, just wandering out to look at the moon, the doctors had no explanation, just 'sleep walking'. "It's so beautiful, isn't it, Julio? Never cha-"

"Never changing and staying pure, you've told me a thousand times." Julio smiled softly as he interupted him, now standing at proper height to look down at Hiro, holding him in his arms and rocking him softly, like a mother would comfort her child on a stormy night. "But you know it tells a sorrowful tale, it cries in darkness because it just wants the suns love, but it is too shy to speak." He said soothingly in a whisper, trying to keep this mysterious tale a secret, as if a fun little game for a kindergardner.. "So it chose to stay the same, in hoping that it's beauty would attract the sun, and the so the sun kept chasing it, and the moon kept running in shame."

"You make the most beautiful things seem so depressing." Hiro sighed softly as he looked down slightly with discourage over the balcony, down a story into the garden of wonderful lilacs, who were sulking in the moonlight, as if thinking they were ugly; as if ashamed that they could not dare compare their beauty to the radiant moon. Like a serf sorrowly waiting for his masters return, waiting for that recognition.

"That's the philosophy of a starving artist," Julio grinned like a playful cat as he turned Hiro around and pushed him against the balcony a little. "Starving for the taste of your lips," He said as he passionantly kissed Hiro on those pink lucious lips, and he writhed in pleasure. Their own play performing for the moon. Julio broke the kiss and looked at him softly. "Now get back to bed, you have a photo shoot in the morning, you know that." His voice getting a little stern as he said so.

"Yeah I know.." Hiro said as he took one look back to the moon. "I wish I could stay beautiful forever, Julio. I wish I never had to age, I wish I could remain perfect and unaged for you." he spoke softly as he rested his head on Julio's chest. Even though they were together for four years, he always was afraid he would get left for someone more prettier, more beautiful than he to Julio. "If I had to die to stay beautiful for you, I would." He said slowly, his voice growing sadder at each tone, as if about to break into tears.

"Don't speak like that," Julio frowned, lifting up Hiro by his chin and looking him in the eyes. "I love you Hiro, not your body, not your looks, you're beautiful to me because of our love, and I would not let a thing in the world seperate us." He said kissing him on the forehead, not even sure why Hiro spoke so, he didn't whine much. Just spoke indifferently after looking at the moon. As if in deep envy of it's beauty? But of what beauty, to Julio, Hiro was the only beauty in his life, and he wouldn't have had it either way.

"Sometimes I think I should kill you for loving me so much," Hiro joked teasingly as he followed Julio back to bed, snuggling up next to him. "But I love you too." He said as he gave a sincere smile and rested his head on Julio's chest. Love he could not explain, he couldn't see why Julio loved him, Hiro was a wreck to deal with, and was an 'out-there' person. But that's why Julio loved him, and he loved Julio. Even with that though, there was that still grim feeling in his stomach that he wasn't good enough for Julio, but they were married for four year and Julio stayed with him. Was that love? It must have been.

"Sometimes I think I should kill you for speaking so badly of yourself." Julio laughed softly as he held Hiro in a tighter warm embrace. "I love you Hiro, remember that." he whispered as he kissed him on the forehead, then kissed him on the lips as he pulled up their black quilt over them. The quilt was a gift from Julio's mother, who was a proffesional in sewing, the quilt had a nights sky stitched over it, with a bright moon in the corner.

"I'm glad.." Hiro murmured quietly as he fell asleep in Julio's arms. And then Julio fell asleep, stroking Hiro's hair. And the moon glittered into the window of their bedroom, giving them the gift of light, in the ptichest shadows of the night. For in the darkest deepest placest, all you have to do is find the silver lining, the light to shine your fears away. And you fears to hide you tears, and your tears to soak your blood, and for your blood, your blood to make the night live on.

"Am I dreaming?" Hiro asked himself as he stood in complete nothingness, in pitch black darkness. He didn't know, but started to desperatly run, trying to find someone, something. "JULIO?! Where are you? Anybody? Please!" He cried out, sitting down in this darkness, crying into his knees.

"Oh donnot cry, my little flower. You're safe for now," A dark cold voice booming from the darkness said cooly. "The pain will be over shortly, just remember my voice won't you? Remember that I am what you seek."

"Wh-what?! Who are you?" Hiro asked exhasperated, scrambling to his feet and looking around fevereshly, trying to find this mysterious voice. He must be dreaming, this is impossible right? Complete darkness? But he could see himself so it wasn't total darkness, just everything around him? And this voice was it the darkness? No, no it's just a dream, he couldn't be going insane, it's nothing to get worked over.

"I am everything you want, I am your lover, your father, your maker, your protecter, your killer, and your one way to the secrets of life." The voice laughed maniacally as the darkness faded to grim gray and a shadowed figure approached him, only a pearly white grin could be seen. "We will meet soon I assure you," The figure said, eyes gleeming red as he stared into Hiro's eyes, Hiro's eyes which were filled with fright. "So donnot forget me, keep me in your mind and your dreams where I shall stay."

Hiro didn't know why, but he nodded. He nodded to the cruel dark voice that was speaking such unexplainable things to him. But he nodded, and hoped to awake soon from this sweet nightmare.
