Hunters

Prologue
Attack

It was a chilly Friday the 13th in December, the night had started out fun, we’d all the spent the evening at Edwards theater, the new Slasher movie Slasher Party 2 it was the sequel to Slasher Party a movie that we watched earlier this afternoon. I was glad when it was over, in part because I’m not a fan of slasher movies. My boyfriend Ethan had talked me into going along in part because he loves these types of movies he claims it excites him. Ethan and I had only been dating for a few weeks but already I was in love with him, he just didn’t know it yet. He was the Captain of the football team, student body president, voted sexiest guy for three years in a row, and he wanted me. His previous girlfriend had gone missing a few weeks before he asked me out, they said she wanted to run away from home, who knows she was gone and he wanted me. The movie ended and before I knew it Ethan was way exited to go into the mountains to look at the full moon tonight, I found my self swept out of the theater packed in his jeep that he got two years ago on his 16th birthday and on our way to the mountains.
It wasn’t even close to midnight yet so we had plenty of time before I had to be home, my curfew wasn’t till 2am anyway. I never had a boyfriend before, I wasn’t really one of the beautiful girls, I was new to the school, and hadn’t met anyone till Ethan. He approached me out of the blue and asked me to a home game that Friday night. It was amazing to be Ethan’s girlfriend, all the girls wanted to be me, and I felt as if I was on cloud nine.
We drove for what seemed like forever, I wasn’t familiar with mountains since I was still so new to the area, but I was confident that he knew his way. He sweetly held my hand, his heat and energy pulsed though my body. I was excited and nervous at the same time, I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next, he pulled the jeep off the main road we drove for several minutes along a windy high lifting dirt road, he pulled to a stop just short of a small creek.
“Stay here.” He said turning towards me, he kissed my lips almost a little to rough, and slide out of the jeep, running into the darkness.
I sat quietly alone in the jeep for what felt like eternity patiently waiting for Ethan to return, my mind curious as to where he had gone. He left the keys with in the ignition, so I was hopping that would mean he would only be gone shortly. I glanced at my watch he had been gone almost twenty minutes, my legs had fallen asleep from sitting so long so I thought I would get out and stretch my legs. I opened the door to the jeep and slide out into the cold night air, a slight wind made me pull my jacket closer, I was looking off in the distance when the door slammed shut by it’s self. I turned and grabbed at the handle but it would budge, auto locking maybe.
“Ethan.” I called into the darkness, only to be echoed by silence.
My fear started to rise in my stomach I didn’t like being alone in the dark, especially in a strange place as this. I moved next to the jeep to stay out of sight just in case of wild creatures that might find me a good meal.
“Ethan.” I called into the darkness again.
Only this time instead of silence my call was answered with that of a wolf in the not so far distance. My heart beat faster the wolf howled to the moon again over and over as it got closer to me. Suddenly a large brown wolf moved into the moonlight it was unlike any wolf I had seen before, in any zoo. He moved opened mouth a growl deep in his throat, teeth snarling, step by step. Each step was that of thunder in my ears, I backed away from the wolf stepping slowly at first and then faster. The wolf gained speed with each step, moving closer, I turned and ran in the direction that we had come. I raced with all my might adrenaline carried me faster then I thought was possible. I felt that my heart was going to give out when the wolf slammed its body into mine we tumbled over the edge and down the hill. As we tumbled I saw the lights from two motor cycles moving towards us up the hill, my only hope was that they would be able to save us in time.
I hit the ground with a hard thud, thankfully nothing felt that it was broken, I turned to get up the wolf was laying on my legs I pulled the quietly from under its heavy body, once free I stood and began to run down the road towards the motor cycles. I never made it because the wolf again slammed into my body knocking me to the ground, under its heavy weight I groaned it felt as if it was crushing me.
“Jennifer, I’m so glad that you ran, it made the chase so much more fun.” The wolf growled though its muzzle.
“Ethan.” I whispered trying to get the words out.
“Yes.” It growled though the muzzle.
“Why?” I asked trying to give myself a chance to be saved.
“I like the taste of human flesh and blood.” It growled.
Suddenly the two motorcycles pulled to a halt 10 yards before us, there were two riders, a pale blonde haired woman in white and a dark haired guy in all black. The woman stepped from the motorcycle she removed her coat, placing it on the bike, then stepped from her boots, tight pants and tank top. Her naked movements enchanted Ethan that he crawled off me and moved towards her slowly. She stepped towards the wolf, with each step she looked less human and more of a wolf, until she was 3 yards away from us, and that of a white wolf.
She pranced gracefully over the road away from us towards the trees as if she was trying to draw his attentions from me. I was guessing it was working because I couldn’t feel him on my back only next to me. She howled a blood curdling howl that sent the hair rising up Ethan’s back. I climbed to my knees then I stumbled to my feet and ran towards her partner, Ethan snarled at my back, but I didn’t turn. The man in black caught me in his arms, lifting my into the air, I felt safe at last.
Suddenly the white wolf attacked Ethan, she lunged at him, her white muzzle ripping into his neck, blood was everywhere, but Ethan slumped to the ground dead, the white wolf turned and looked at me, with green eyes. I suddenly felt so sleepy I could barley keep my eyes open, the last I remember was looking at the snow white wolf covered in my boyfriends blood.
