Prologue
Welcome, one and all... This is the second of stories that I created with absolutely no other needs for disclaimers, etc. To be honest, I don't like showing my own original ideas for others... but I have a good feeling about this one. A very good feeling indeed. So, check it out... if you got the time.
Note: All characters used in this story are sole property of me. ANY relation to any other characters others writers own is of pure coincidence. Any use of characters without my permission will lead to... well, let's just say it won't be pretty.
Prologue:
It didn't happen… It didn't happen…
But even as he thoughts those words, he knew, in his heart, what happened was real. Not a dream, but reality. A painful one. Looking back he saw the crest of the hill he walked down from. Just beyond it, was where it lay. He looked there again, trying to shake apart the feeling of loss in his heart. But he knew, like all the others that were there, that his father would never return.
"Hey… you alright? Come on, let’s get you home."
"I'm fine… I just need some time to myself is all."
"Sure thing John. I understand."
But John Aaron knew better. He knew they didn't understand. Not truly anyway. For they had no idea how his father had died. What sinister truths lay buried there… he shuddered to think about it.
At the age of 2, John's mother had fallen ill and died unexpectedly. His father then did his best to try and play an important role in his son's life. John looked up to his father as someone who was invincible… someone who couldn't be touched. But reality was harsh, as he watched his father die at the hands of demons.
As a kid, the only demons he believed to exist were ones that weren't real. However, at 15 he once saw his father discussing with a true demon. The fact that people knew demons existed was not uncommon. What was rare was that some demons would actually reveal themselves to humans. And ever since that day he wondered just what it meant that his father knew demons.
Now, at 19, John was much wiser. He knew that demons liked to haunt certain areas of the small village, but why they chose to reveal themselves to few people was not his concern. Or at least not yet.
Now, standing in the field of graves, John wondered what his life would be like now… Would demons come to him too, like his father before him? And why did they come to his father in the first place?
Dad…in my heart I always thought you were more then what you seemed… but it turns out you were only human.
Turning his back one last time on the grave, he walked on to his home, a tear escaping from his eyes.
