Together, Yet Appart
A/N: This is a story about four friends and how I wished our lives turned out to be. Sort of based on a true story but not. If you catch my drift. In later chapters lots of steamy sex. I\'ll warn everyone of course. Read and Review!

Chapter 1: Together, Yet Apart

Four girls sat on their way to Seatac Airport. Three large trunks sat in the back of Jessica\'s pickup truck. The girls were starting a new adventure; not together as they had hoped, but appart. Stanford, Julliard, Duke, and the University of Washington. The girls were college bound. They continued to drive South on Interstate 5. To the airport that would take them away from one another. They talked about past years. And how their friendship had grown. The ups and downs of the rollercoaster called life.
They talked on how Jessica had earned her full ride to Duke playing basketball, and how she lead the Meadowdale High School team to win state. There first homecoming together, how the strap of Lena\'s dress had ripped and her dad had to bring a safety pin. And the freshman Halloween party where Kira\'s boyfriend Nathan had bought her and Rachel bra\'s and thongs for their birthdays. The memories that went through that truck were fond and not so fond. But they had gone through them together; and now they were about to be driven apart.
Soon they pull up to the aiport, the girls get out and Jessica goes to grab the lugage from the bed of her truck. Pulling the bags out she sets them on the curb; then the hard part began. Saying good bye. Rachel would be staying in Seattle. Going to the University of Washington to study in Sports Injuries. She hoped one day she could become a nurse on a campus of some college. Tending to the injuries of the athlets that worked so hard on and off the court. Tears ran down Jessica\'s face as she turned to Rachel.
\"Prongs,\" Jessica managed to choke out. The ran to embrase each other. \"What am I going to do without you?\" Rachel just smiled as she said:
\"Cattail, your going to play basketball, then move into the WNBA and be a huge star. You know I\'ll always be here for you; and when you get into Durham I expect you call me.\" Jess smiled and steped back so Kira and Lena could say farewell to Rachel.
The girls had formed a group back in 8th grade when they had become best friends. They called themselves the Marauders. After the Harry Potter books that were all the rage. Kira was an avid fan, going to the extremes of actually memorizing lines from the book and dressing up as characters as well. Her name was Padfoot; after the \"suposed\" killer Serius Black. Lena, becuase of her love for the moon, the obvious choice in her name was Moony. Rachel was Prongs. She was sort of the bond that held the group together; very similar to James in the books. Now Jess did not want at all to be like the traitorous Wormtail in the book. Nor did she want in any way to be associated with a worm. Hence she came up with the name Cattail, for she was a cat lover in her own right.
After Lena and Kira had steped away from Rachel; she looked her three best friends in the eyes. \"I love you all so much; We have been through so much together. But some things you have to do on your own. This is going to be a great challenge for all of us. When you all get settled I expect you to call me right away.\" A single tear ran down her face as she hugged the three of them one last time. \"Take care guys.\" Rachel said as she turned and walked back to Jessica\'s truck, turned on the ignition and with one last wave drove off. Back home, without her best friends by her side.
The three remaining girls turned and walked into the airport; dragging their suitcases behind them. Lena and Jess turned to Kira. Another good bye was in order. Kira was headed off to California. Lena looked at Kira, tears already threatning to return. The girls were all best friends, but they were sort of split into pairs. Jessica and Rochelle had been best friends since the 7th grade; as had Kira and Lena. It wasnt until a year later they came together. Forming the Mauders. Lena and Kira embrassed tightly.
\"I\'m going to miss you Padfoot. Who will we all call when we need help with our homework!\" Lena said jokingly. Kira was off to Sandford; her major already into place. Kira was going into Humanities and Sciences. After college she planned on going into Bio-chemistry; thinking she may perhaps be the first person to actually clone a full bodied human or find a cure for a HIV.
\"I dont know Moony.\" Kira said with a smile. Turning to Cattail she smiled. \"Now Jess, study hard and dont party to much ok?\" Jess smiled and gave her word that she wouldnt hook up with too many guys.
\"Jess, Lena. I love you guys so much. Were all destend for great things, but we have to work hard to get there. Goodbye for now my friends.\" And with a wave she was off to check into her flight. Then onto her 4 hour flight to San Fransico.
\"Well Lena, shall we check into our flight?\"
\"Lets.\" Cattail and Moony headed off to the Alaska Airlines check in point. After checking in and dropping there suitcases off they headed into the terminal and stopped off at the Starbucks to grab a coffee and a snack. Low fat Carmal Frapp for Jess and a tea for Lena and off they were.
\"Im nervous Lena. What am I going to do? Im playing for a great college I kow this, but WHAT am I going to do?\"
\"Jess, don\'t worry about it. Your going to play for Duke, your going to major in Politics just like you planned, your going to meet a great guy who loves you. And your life will be perfect.\"
\"I hope your right Lena. Im so nervous. This will be the first time the Marauders are apart. Quite frankly Im scared shitless. Were going to be so far away, and living totally diffrent lives. What I would give for our high school days. Where everything was normal and we were together.\" Lena patted her companion\'s arm reassuringly.
\"I know Jess. But things cant stay the same forever. People change, the world changes. Nothing we can do will stop that. But I know that the four of us will remain friends. Its destiny.\"
~2 hours Later~
\"Now boarding Flight 135 to Chicago\"
Lena prodded the sleeping Jess awake. \"Thats us.\"
\"Oh,\" Jess said sleepily. Gathering their purses they pulled out their boarding passes and proceeded to the end of the line to get onto the plane. The line moved quickly and soon the girls were standing infront of the stewardess. Holding out there drivers licences and boarding passes they were quickly approved. Walking down into the plane they found there seats next to eachother and sat quickly.
\"Rachel would be home by now. And Kira would be in the air on her way to LA.\" Lena said, staring out the window. Jess gave a quick nod of her head in agreement.
\"I wonder how life will change for them and for us.\"
\"I have no clue.\" A stewardess came down the aisle telling the passangers to please fasten their seatbelts as they were about to take off. Lena turned to Jess, a slight grin on her face.
\"Were about to begin our new adventure.\" Grasping Jess\'s hand Lena smiled as their plan begain to move and soon was in the air bound to Chicago. In the back of both girls minds they were dreading the landing. As the final good bye would be said their. Jess off to North Carolina, and Lena to New York.
* * * * * * * * * * * * *
The sun shone bright in California as Kira got of her plane. \'Im here\' Kira thought with a smile. She could hardly contain her excitment. She calmly walked down into baggage claim and begain to wait for her luggage to come down onto the trolly. After a few minutes of standing the trolly begain to spin slowly. Indicating that the bags were about to come. Kira was in luck. Her bag was the first to come down the shoot. Walking over to the trolly she picked her heavy bag up with slight difficulty.
\'Man how do I miss Jess. She could have pulled that up with one arm.\' Smiling at the thought of her friends she walked out of the airport into the taxi area. Hailing a cab she had the driver put her bag in the back and proceeded to tell the driver to take her to Sandford University.
\"Ah, college bound are we?\" The driver said striking up a conversation.
\"Yes.\" Kira said brightly.
\"Well here we go!\" And with that Kira was on her way. Down the busy streets of San Fransico into the heart of the Sillicon Valley.

Rachel was sitting in her room of father\'s house. Sighing she looked at the picture of their graduation day. The smiling faces brought back memories of joy and sorrow. Oh how Rachel, like Jess wished that life were never to change. Buit that was not the case. Rachel had classes to start on Monday. A shiver of excitement ran through her body. She couldnt help it, she was soo excited. Rachel logged onto her computer, signing into her email account she quickly selected Jess\' email address and begain to write:
Cattail,
I know you wont be reciving this until much much later. But i really dont care. I miss you already girl. Drving your truck back was so hard. But im glad your letting me use your baby. It\'ll be much easier to get around with a car. Sweety I love you, play well, party hard, study harder, and dont forget me. I love you!

Sighing Rachel clicked the \'send\' button and then turned her computer off and headed out of the house. She had to get to work bagging groceries at Safeway.
~Hours Later ~
\"Please fasten your seat belts we are about to land in Chicago. The current time there is 6:45 pm, we hope you enjoyed your flight.\" Jess looked at Lena. They both new the time for their good bye was drawing nearer. The plane landed smoothly and soon they were walking off the plane.
\"Jess, do well. Dont forget me. Good luck.\" With a hug Lena turned and walked away. To a diffrent turminal, to a diffrent city, a diffrent life. Sighing Jess sat down and pulled out a book. She had 45 minutes until her next plane would leave, taking her further and further away from her friends.
