Angel of Darkness
Alexander sat on his father’s throne, his legs resting firmly over one of the arms of the chair. His near shoulder length silver hair fell over his eyes as he starred up at the ceiling. “Can my life possibly get any worse?” He said under his breath as the throne room door opened.
“You know very well that you’re not supposed to be in here Alex.” Lucas said as he looked at the young vampire.
“And who may I ask is going to stop me? Father sure as hell can’t/” The nineteen year old said as he moved his right hand gently over his gloved left one. “Not from where he is anyway.” A smile tugged on the corners of Alexander’s mouth.
“And whose fault is that?” Lucas asked brushing back his dark purple colored hair.
“It was self-defense and you know it.” The smile faded. “You know just as well as I do that my father did nothing but cause me pain my whole life, him and my whore of a mother as well.”
“Don’t speak ill of your parents. Garret loved you and you know it. He would never let anyone or anything harm you.”
“That’s because he was the on doing the harming to me…” Alexander’s eyes focused on Lucas’. “All my life he would beat me.”
“People do stupid things to the ones they love, but he did care about you.”
The teen laughed. “He sure had a funny way of showing it. I don’t think someone who loved his family would try to kill his only child.”
Lucas smiled. “Garret was right…” Lucas said approaching the throne. “It was a mistake for him to have convinced your mother to keep you.”
“Guess he changed his mind about having children after I was born and she ran away.” The vampire stood up. “It was obvious that he hated me….you just don’t hurt the people you love.” He added trying to keep calm.
The older man rolled his eyes. “You were such a wimp when you were a child, what your father made you the man that you are today.” Lucas said walking over to the silver haired teen.
“And you think that’s a good thing?” He asked walking over to the window. “He beat me my whole life and nobody cares…I blame him for the way I turned out! No matter how hard I try to forget about the past, it just comes back to me even clearer than it was before!”
“You can’t blame Garret for everything.” Lucas said as he watched Alexander for a couple of seconds. “Your sexuality for example.”
Alexander glared at the older man. “My sexuality has nothing to do with this.”
“Your father would be so disappointed.”
“Nothing I did was good enough for him. I’m not perfect! No one is…”
“He did what he did for your own good.” Lucas said as he watched the teen tighten the strap on his glove.
“Even the ones I got for no reason at all?” Alexander asked as he closed his eyes briefly.
“Some of them were necessary.”
“How can you say such a thing?! How can you be on his side when he nearly killed me!?” The young prince said losing his temper.
“But you killed him.” Lucas said calmly, his gold eyes focused on Alexander’s. “He ruined your life so you took his.”
“He deserved what he got.” The young vampire said.
“Nobody deserves to have their life taken from them.” Lucas said. “And in my opinion, you should have been punished for suck a crime.”
“SELF-DEFENCE IS NOT A CRIME!” Alexander yelled. “Now will you please leave me, I wish to be alone.”
Lucas shook his head and started laughing. “Your father’s only been gone two months and already you think you rule over everything.”
“Correction, I do.”
“Not until you’re twenty-one Alexander… and until then I do not have to take orders from you. You have absolutely no right to tell me what to do.”
“If I do remember correctly Lucas, I am the only heir to the throne; therefore you have to do as I say or I will have no other choice but to let you go.”
“You wouldn’t do such a thing.” Lucas asked as he stepped away from the teen.
“Oh I can… And I will.”
Lucas smiled. “You deserve everything your father did to you and much more.”
“If I were you Lucas, I’d watch what I say. You might end up keeping my father company sooner than you think.” Alexander turned to look at the purple haired man who was still smiling at him.
“Is that a threat young prince?”
“Absolutely.”
“You better watch you back Alex; you can’t be too sure who your real friends are and when they just might turn there back on you.”
“Luckily for me I don’t have any friends.” The teen said smirking.
“Just be warned, if you weren’t a prince and if I could get away with killing you… I’d do it in a heart beat.” His eyes focused on the teen’s.
“Well, unfortunately… you can’t.”
Lucas smiled and tucked his index finger under Alexander’s chin. “Don’t be too sure about that Alex…”
Alexander pushed his hand away and walked back towards the throne. “I want you to leave and never come back… Do you understand me?”
Lucas smiled again. “Good night dark prince.” He said as he left the room.
‘God I hate him!’ Alexander thought as he sat back down on the throne, closed his eyes and tried to calm himself down. His gloved hand ran loosely through his silver hair as he breathed softly.
“Alex…?”
The young vampire opened his eyes to find Haven leaning up against the half opened door. His dark brown bangs covered his emerald green eyes. “What is it Hav?” Alexander asked not moving from where he was.
“Do you mind if I come in?”
“Not at all.” The older teenager said as he forced himself to smile at the brunette.
“What’s wrong? I can tell you’re upset…. Was it Lucas again?” Haven asked as he approached the throne.
“Yes as a matter of fact it was… I swear, he is totally against me taking the throne.” The vampire said as he leaned his head back and closed his eyes. Haven watched him for a few minutes before saying anything.
“What are you thing about?” The sixteen year old asked as he brushed the silver strands of hair away from Alexander’s face.
“There are so many things going through my mind at the moment Haven… I just can’t stand it…”
The brunette looked at Alexander with a worried look in his eyes. “Do you want to be alone?” he asked softly. “I’ll leave if you do…”
“No.” Alexander answered in almost a whisper as he took Haven’s hand. “You have away of making all my problems go away by just being around me.” He said as he kissed the younger teen’s fist.
“Alex?” Haven whispered as he knelt down beside the throne.
“What is it Hav?”
“When are you going to tell me why you wear that glove? I mean…I’ve never seen you take it off.” The younger male said as he looked into Alexander’s eyes.
“It’s complicated…” the young prince began. “You just need to have patience with me… Just knowing that I am cursed to wear this retched thing every day of my life brings terrible memories.”
Haven frowned and rested his head on Alexander’s knee. “I won’t rush you… You’ll tell me when the time is right…”
Alexander smiled and ran his fingers slowly through the dark strands of Haven’s hair. “You’ll know everything about my life in time… I promise…”
The younger teen looked up at Haven and smiled. “I can wait… You told me the two most important things about you and that’s all that matters.”
“Oh, and what would those two things be?” Alexander asked as he cupped the dark haired male’s chin.
“What you are… A vampire…” Haven said as their eyes locked. “And that you love me…”
“That I do.” The nineteen year old vampire said as he pulled Haven close to his chest and wrapped his arms around him. “And I always will… no matter what.”
“I’ll be in my room if you need me… I have to study.” The younger teen said as he pulled away from the silver haired male and stood up.
“Alright, but don’t stay up too late.”
“I won’t…” Haven said as he bent down and kissed Alexander softly on the cheek. “Good night my prince…”
Alexander caressed the brunettes’ cheek before kissing him on the lips. “Good night my love…”
“Alexander James Le Rouge what the hell are you wearing?” Victoria asked as she walked into the prince’s room.
Alexander looked at his reflection in the mirror. “My clothes…” he said as he finished putting the three earrings in to his right earlobe. “Why?”
“No reason… but um… can you kinda hurry on getting ready? Your guests are here.” She said as she leaned against the wall and crossed her arms over her chest.
“I don’t care, they can wait… It’s not like I know anyone anyway.” He said as he adjusted the straps on his glove.
“You might not what to meet them, but they want to know who their prince is… In a couple of year you’re going to be ruler of the vampires and you can care less?”
“I didn’t ask to be.” Alexander said pulling his hair back in a perfect ponytail except for a strand which he let hang over his left eye.
Victoria walked over to Alex and smiled. “ I know Lucas gives you a hard time, but honestly, I think you’re going to make us a fine ruler.”
Alexander studied his reflection in the mirror. “But I’m breaking so many rules.”
“What do you mean?” the red haired woman asked placing a comforting hand on her prince’s shoulder. “Are you taking about your sexuality? There’s no rule against that.”
“No, not that… I mean… Haven’s human… that’s breaking a rule all its own.” Alexander said as he looked into his own eyes.
“Then turn him.”
“I can’t…”
“And why not?” She asked softly.
“I can’t do it… just the thought of killing him makes me go crazy.”
“I take it you’ve thought of doing it before?” Victoria asked with a smile.
“Yeah, he wanted me to do it, he brought up the fact that because he’s human, he’ll age and one day die… where that’ll never happen to me.”
Victoria nodded her head. “No it won’t.” she agreed. “You’ll always have the appearance of a nineteen year old. But your eyes alone will tell the story of you life.”
“On my twenty-first birthday, I’m going to have so many responsibilities, I’m afraid that I\'m not going to have time for him and he’s going to leave and never come back.”
“Alex… he loves you… he would never do such a thing.” Victoria said with a smile. “Now hurry up, your guests are waiting.” She said as she left the room.
‘I hope you’re right… it would kill me to lose him…’
“You know very well that you’re not supposed to be in here Alex.” Lucas said as he looked at the young vampire.
