CHAPTER ONE:
BEGINNING DISCOVERIES

Two friends walked together throughout their college campus. The shorter and younger of the two babbled on about his girlfriend, while the older, blonde haired boy politely listened, not wanting to simply tell him to shut up.

“You should get a girlfriend Jason. It’d make you happier.”
“Roy, I’ve told you a million times, I simply don’t want one until I’m done with college. You’ll realize that when you’re older.”
“Psh, you make me sound like a tiny kid.”
“::Maybe…:: I am not!”

Roy ran a hand through his purpleish hair and sighed. He knew there was no point trying to convince his dorm mate to get into a relationship, but he still persisted. He felt like Jason was always kind of secretive and too shy. He was only looking out for his best friend! Or at least that was what he kept telling himself.

“Hey, isn’t that Ariella over there?”
Roy looked to where Jason was pointing and smiled. With a burst of speed he ran and jumped on the petite red-haired girl. This effectively backfired on him as he was thrown over her shoulder and stepped on.

“Don’t try it Roy. I know you too well.”
He winced as a resounding high-heeled boot was dug into his chest.
“Ariella! That hurts you dumbass!”
“You deserve it! Trying to jump me! What were you thinking?” she stuck out her tongue as she continued looking down. When Jason crept up behind her and placed a hand on her shoulder, she jumped and turned to face the blond.

“Jason! Uh…” Roy rolled his eyes as Ariella completely forgot about him and focused all of her attention towards the blonde beauty. Her cheeks looked like they were bruising because she was blushing so much. She stumbled through her next few words as Roy mocked her by copying her from behind. Jason stifled a laugh.

“Sorry…y’know…Roy totally deserved that…” Roy mocked fluttering his eyes and looking away.

“Well…you know about that new club, don’t you?” Placing his hands together like he was praying, Roy silently acted giddy and smiled gaily. Jason found it harder and harder to hold in his laughter. Ariella had a puzzled look on her face.

“You mean Faded Passion? Yeah I know it. What about it?” Roy looked to him in confusion. Jason shrugged slightly.
“Well, there’s a huge party there tonight, you know! Why don’t you two come?” Roy stopped mid-mock as she spun to face him. He smiled.
“Maaaaaybe. If goody two shoes over there doesn’t object,” he pointed and smirked at Jason. “And could I invite Danielle? She loves that club.”

“Sure! Just don’t make out in front of us. Or I’ll kill you.” Roy was scared because she looked as if she was serious. He backed away slightly and stared wide-eyed at his red-haired friend.
“Don’t worry. With you threatening me, I wouldn’t kiss someone for the world…”

“Good!” She turned to Jason. “Well, I’ll see you guys later then, ‘kay? I’ll stop by your dorm around eight.”
“Sounds good to me.” Jason nodded and waved as she ran off to the girl’s dorms. Roy stretched and continued walking along side Jason.

“Maybe you should go out with Ariella.”
“WHAT?!” Jason looked aghast at his best friend. “But she’s like…my best girl friend. Why would I want to ruin that?”
Roy snickered at his usually calm and collective friend. He pondered to himself whether or not Jason really did like Ariella, but just didn’t show it. He decided, even though he knew Jason would more then likely become seriously offended, to push on in the subject.

“Then who do you like? Come on, I won’t tell anyone,” he said as they kept walking. “Maybe I can get you hooked up with them tonight, huh?” he grinned wildly. Jason looked away and turned red.

“I don’t LIKE anyone…”
“Oh please, everyone has to like…”
“Roy, what I mean is that I don’t ever like anyone. When I like someone, I love …her, it’s never only like. It’s either serious or not at all for me.”
“That still doesn’t answer the question.”
Jason continued looking straight ahead and didn’t turn to Roy.
“Fine. I do love someone.”
“I don’t care. WHO is what I want to know.”

“And WHO is something you’ll never find out,” Jason snapped at Roy. The blonde continued walking, getting more and more frustrated by the moment by his annoying friend. He was happy to have met Roy…but at times, his dorm mate was annoying as hell. Of course, being the nice guy that he was, Jason always tolerated Roy.

Roy stuffed his hands in his pockets and shifted the weight of his bag. Why did Jason always get so offensive about whom he liked? Didn’t all guys talk about girls? Roy confused himself even more as he formulated a plan to try and apologize to Jason by getting a girl to come on to him tonight.

::Hey…that could work.::

The sun continued to droop as it reached nearer and nearer to six in the afternoon. The two boys climbed the stairs of the first dorm building as sunlight poured in the windows on the sides of the stairway. They traveled down the third floor hallway and stopped at the door that read ‘337’ in rusted letter. As Jason pulled out his room keys, Roy looked down at his blackened tennis shoes.

“Sorry Jason. About earlier. I shouldn’t have pressed the subject.” Jason turned to face the seemingly innocent boy as he turned the key in the lock. When he opened the door, he smiled.

“No problem. I’m used to it from you by now.” That got him jabbed slightly in the arm by the dark-haired boy.
In the two’s room, there was a middle section, where two desks connected to the walls were, and a couch was in the middle with an adequately sized TV in front of it. Sunlight gleamed through the window and barely touched the two sliding doors that branched off into other rooms. One was obviously Roy’s as he had covered it with signs and posters, indicating that it was his room, and to keep out. The clean one was Jason’s, showing a very apparent trait of him. Jason sat on the couch as Roy went to his small little room to change into something more comfortable.

Jason heard some shuffling behind the closed sliding door, and didn’t notice as Roy came out.
“Hey Jason, which shirt should I wear to the club?”
“Roy, Come on. I know there’s a party, but, there’s still three hours to go, AND we have tons of that crap homework in Advanced Anato…”
Jason stopped short when he turned around and saw Roy in front of him. Roy. There with two shirts held up. Grinning. Oh, right. He was shirtless too.
“Err…I mean. I like the purple one. It matches your hair.” Jason laughed as he nonchalantly put a hand near his nose. Roy cocked an eyebrow and looked at the other. He turned back towards his room as Jason spun around and reached for the nearest tissue.

::When the HELL did that start happening?::

Jason silently prayed for the bleeding to stop. And before Roy came back out in a comfy white shirt, Jason had thrown away the tissues and wiped away all evidence that any bad thoughts had come to him when he looked at Roy. The blond fidgeted when his friend sat down, getting him an odd stare from Roy.
“What the fuck is your problem Jason?”
“Nothing, why the hell are you so nosy?”
“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize it was your time of the month.” Roy said mockingly, a smirk playing at his lips. Jason glared.

“Keep messing with me Roy, and I’ll tell you know who about how you talk in your sleep…”
Even though Jason had absolutely no idea what he was talking about, the sentence struck fear into Roy’s heart. He stared at Jason for the longest time.
“Y-you….y-y-you were listening?”
“Maaaaybe. I could probably just…forget everything if you bribed me,” Jason grinned, smelling victory within his grasp. “Or I could just tell your girlfriend that you’re dreaming about another girl…”

“Hah! You have no idea what you’re talking about! Even though I don’t like it, I’m not dreaming about another gi-…” Realizing what he had just implied, Roy shut up quickly, with a quick turn of his head, went back to his room. Jason stared at the sliding door for some time, before going up to it and sliding it open, to see a pouting Roy sitting on the bed.

“You realize you just told me something that I won’t let you live down for as long as you live?” Jason smirked at the uneasiness that this cause Roy. The younger of the two glared at him.

“What do you think I meant?” he asked, his tone like poison.
“Oh, I dunno, maybe that you dream about guys?” Jason had to keep himself from laughing at Roy’s expression. The dark haired boy fidgeted and glared at Jason.

“I SAID that I didn’t like it.”
“OH, but did you?”
“Shut up Jason.”
“Awww come on. You pissed me off, this is my chance for revenge!” Jason said. He almost didn’t add the next part, but decided to anyway.

“Besides, I always knew you were about as straight as a rainbow.”

This earned him a crack in the jaw as he flew backwards and landed on his back in the middle of their room. Roy flew from his room and pinned Jason down. He glared down at the blond and gritted his teeth.
“Take. That. Back!”
“Why? Don’t want to admit it?” Jason made a mental note to never do this again. He hated seeing Roy so angry, especially when Roy was mad at him. But for some reason, the insults kept spewing from his mouth, and he couldn’t stop it. And each insult equaled Roy’s grip tightening on his arms.

::Note to self: When Roy is pissed, he gets incredibly strong.::

“Fine you stupid bastard! You’re not frickin’ gay, now get the hell off me!”
“Tsh, you better remember it. Or I’ll crack you in your jaw again.” With that snide remark, Roy pushed himself off of Jason, who was just realizing the awkward position they’d been in, and went to his room, slamming the door shut. Jason heard the click of a lock and just lay on the floor.

::Good job there. Way to screw things up.::
A vibrating came from his pocket as a tiny little tune came through. Pulling out his cell phone, Jason went to go sit back on the couch.
“Hello?”
“Jason? That you?”
“The one and only! That you Ariella?”
“Uh-huh! Hey, you guys mind if I come over?”
“What? But it’s only 6:15!”
“Yeah…well…I’m bored as hell. Please?”
“Yeah sure. But Roy is uh…” Jason looked to the locked door and sighed.
“He’s sleeping, so be kind of quiet when you knock, kay?”
“Alright! Be there in around ten minutes!”
“See you then.”
“Bai!”

As Jason flipped his cell phone shut to disconnect the call, he stood and went to the door of Roy’s room. Leaning on the part of the door that didn’t slide, he called out to his fuming roommate.
“Ariella is coming over. You mind?”
Some shuffling of papers.
“No. Why do you care about what I think anyway?”
“And when have you cared about me joking about you?”

The door slammed open, shaking the room. Roy strode out and stood in front of Jason, fists clenched tight, ready to punch Jason if need be. Even though he was about two inches shorter, Roy still knew that his glare somewhat overpowered the one he was furious at now. A few inches from his face, Roy’s eyes seemed to flash red. Very, very, VERY, bright blood red.

Roy grabbed Jason by his shirt and held his face up to his roommates.

“Don’t make me punch you again. Because you know I will.”
Jason kept the same, unfeeling expression on his face and continued staring back into Roy’s oddly silvery eyes. When he didn’t respond. Roy grabbed him by the collar of his t-shirt and glared menacingly at him.

“Well?”
“What do you mean well? You have me in a choke hold and you want me to say something?”
::Don’t give into temptation…don’t give into temptation…::

“At least apologize you dumb fuck!”
“For what?!”
“You know WHAT!! So do something about it!”
“You want me to do something about it?

::You know what, screw this. Roy’s already mad, and the temptation is pretty strong when he’s two inches away from my face…yup, giving in.::

“Yes! Do some-mmmph!!”
