See Red Again
Leaving
Today is the day that all dreams come true, a dream for a boy and a girl just like you. A dream so bright it shines the sky, a dream so bright for you and I.
Alexis walked up the stairs to her room to go check up on her husband after she had taken a shower downstairs, so she wouldn’t wake him up. When she walked in her room she saw Adam turning in the bed. She walked over to him and shook him. “Adam wake up.” She whispered. He twisted over to look at her. “Oh my god you look horrible. Are you feeling ok?” “No I’m not feeling ok.” He said sarcastically. She kneeled over and touched his head. Her hand then became oddly hot. “I don’t think I should go in today. Your not looking so good and I don’t have anybody out here who can take care of you.” “No it’s ok just go to work I’ll be fine.” “No I’m calling in right now.” She grabbed the phone and called her supervisor to tell him that she couldn’t come in because of a family emergency. “Adam I’ll be right back I’m going to run downstairs and get you some medicine” Alexis walked downstairs to the medicine cabinet and opened it. She reached in the back to find the robitosum but what she found was a box of male enhancement pills. She gasped. Her first thought was to put it back and not ask Adam about them. But then she decided that she had better ask before he found out that she knew. So she walked upstairs with the medicine and the box of pills. When she got in the room Adam had rolled onto her side of the bed and thrown the covers onto the floor. “Adam I have a question for you.” “What is it?” He asked moaning into the pillow. “What are these?” Adam turned over and looked at the box in her hand. He just stared at her for a second. “Its nothing don’t worry about it.” He said in a quick and raspy voice. “But Wh…” “I said don’t worry about it!” She drooped her head. “Are you having a…?” “Having a what Alex? Say it.” She looked up. “You think I’m cheating don’t you?” She was silent. “Don’t you!” She quickly turned on her heel and walked out of the room. She turned around and took one last glance at him, and then she left. He didn’t even bother calling her back.
She didn’t no whether to go home or to go to her parents house. She didn’t know whether to cry or to scream. She was in a world of trouble. “I knew I should have just left them in the cabinet.” As she drove all she could see was how mad Adam looked when he saw the box. And all she could think about was why he hadn’t told her about something this important. When she finally got to her destination, she got out of the car and ran up the side walk to a house she new all to well and would hardly ever think of going to, especially in a dilemma like this one. She rang the doorbell and stood in the cold December’s weather waiting for the door to be answered, waiting to see him. When the door finally opened a small girl who couldn’t have been more than two or three stood in her path, behind her was a tall man with very strong facial features. His eyes were the perfect shape of almonds and the brilliant color of maple wood. His hair was matted down like a wet dog that stretched down to the end of his ear lobes with dark blue streaks. He had a beard trimmed so you couldn’t find a stray hair if you tried and he was the last thing Alexis wanted to see. The small girl next to him looked like she could have been in one of those diaper commercials. Her cheeks were a soft pink that filled in her dimples. Her hair was a soft black just like fathers; she wore it in two ponytails that stretched to the middle of her back. Her eyes looked like they had been drawn in on her face, for they were perfect circles and the color of honey, a trait she inherited from her mother. Alexis stared at her for what seemed like an eternity. Then without warning the young girl smiled and ran into her arms. “Mommy.”
