Pairings: Colin/Gabriel/Austin
Warnings: Fantasy, Vampires, Anal, Lemon, Minor, AU, M/M/M
Disclaimers: All the characters created within are from my own imagination. I’ve always had a deep love for vampires and those who love them. This is my tribute to my favorite being in existence.
(Colin POV)
My story starts a long time ago. I find myself sometimes having trouble remembering a time when I wasn’t a vampire. I lived with my family on our farm in budding America. I was a normal young man only fearing that I would never meet someone to love. And then she appeared. I still remember her face even though it has been over 150 years since I have seen her. She entered the town that night and everyone was captivated by her. She was the most beautiful woman that I had seen in my life and when she turned her blue eyes to me, I was lost. It was the very next night when she took my life from me and gave me a new one. I didn’t hate her for making me a vampire; it’s everything that came after that makes me hate her. I know everyone thinks that vampires don’t dream, but I do. Her face and the things that she did will haunt me for all time. I was only 23 when I was reborn as a vampire and I was not prepared for the changes that she brought to my life. But I don’t like dwelling in the past. I must keep telling myself that it can’t hurt me anymore.
I hope that I am wiser now. I have tried to move from the past but I still feel lost. I am almost 250 years old and I still haven’t been able to feel comfortable in this body that remains unchanging as time passes. No one expects this innocent looking body to be the territory master. That is how I differ from my brethren. I hide in plain sight. They all fear the humans, but not I. I run an empire of businesses and no one suspects that I am the leader. My many capable managers are all in the forefront.
The city wasn’t always like this but 100 years ago, humans found out about vampires and were-animals after a few had gone on a killing spree. There were too many bodies to be hidden. And so, humans, weres and vampires came to an agreement. Vampires were given territories to monitor with the help of the Hunters. Hunters are a group of humans specially trained by the vampires to hunt anyone that has gone rogue, whether they are vampire or were-animal.
Do you wonder what I do all day? I never gave up my greatest love from childhood. I run a bookstore. I love to get lost in the stories about love an life, two things I am sadly lacking right now. But I continue to go on. Why? I love to see the joy that I can bring to the faces of all the children who come here for story time. They are the children I will never have, but they bring so much joy into my dead life. Like I used to, they still believe in fairy tales and happily ever after.
Today started out just like any other. I entered the shop in the early afternoon from the hidden passageway in the storeroom. As I took my place behind the front counter, the door opened. I felt the otherworldly energy skate over my body. I sighed. I had hoped for a peaceful day of not having to solve any problems for my territory. I watched the boy from across the room but couldn’t place him. He didn’t seem familiar to me, perhaps he was from another territory or perhaps he was seeking the master’s protection. He is very pleasing to the eye. His auburn hair comes down to his waist and his has the most beautiful jade green eyes. It’s too bad that I’m not interested in having a lover right now or ever. He would be perfect for me. Add in the fact that he is a were, he could take all that I have to give. A small flame of desire starts in me as I inspect his body. I quickly quash the feeling. He comes over to the counter nervously. I am surprised by the words that escape from him.
“I was told to come here and ask for Colin if I ever needed to get in touch with my sister” he says.
“You have found him” I reply. “Who, may I ask, is your sister? And who are you?”
“I apologize for my rudeness. I am Austin. My sister’s name is Marissa, Marissa Brown.”
“I see. And you are sure that she advised you to come here if you needed her?”
“Yes. It’s all in the letter that she sent me.”
“May I see it?”
“Of course.” He dug around in his bag and came out with a crumpled letter and handed it to me. I looked it over before making my reply.
“I shall call her to come here. Perhaps you are hungry, would you like something to eat while we wait?”
“Yes, thank you. I haven’t eaten since last night. It practically took all the money I had to get a ticket.”
“Follow me then. She will not wake for a few more hours. You have changed a lot since I saw you last.” He looked surprised when I said that. I walked him back to the employee area behind the café.
“When did you see me?”
“I saw you when your sister made her request to become a vampire. You have grown quite a bit since then and you are not fully human anymore.”
“You can tell from looking at me that I’m not human?”
“No. I feel your energy reacting with mine. Did the person who changed you not explain these things to you?” I motioned him to sit at the table. I took the seat across from him and looked deeply into his eyes. He seemed like he was going to cry. I quickly rose from the table. “What would you like to eat? We have bagels, muffins, cake or cereal.”
He continued to stare at the table before asking to have a bagel and some cereal. I hurriedly made them up for him and set the items on the table in front of him. He ate both quickly and they seemed to strengthen his resolve. I picked up his hand before speaking softly to him.
“Will you be able to tell me about it?”
He face became bright with color. “I am still not over what happened but I don’t want a lot of people to find out about it.”
I pulled him to his feet. “We will go elsewhere then.” We walked back in the to main part of the bookstore. “Sarah, will you take over the front counter for me? I probably will not return for the rest of the day.” She nodded at me. “Come with me, Austin.” I led him back to the storeroom and used my powers to open the doorway. He looked at me with wonder.
“How did you do that?”
“It is one of my many gifts. We must travel for a little while to be in a private area and we will be much closer to your sister.” He followed me into the passageway. Neither of us needed a light to show the way. We both have exceptionally good vision. We traveled for a few minutes in silence before coming upon the splits in the pathway. There are 7 passageways in front of us. We went down the second one from the left.
“Where do the others lead?” he hesitantly asked.
“If you’re here long enough, I shall give you the grand tour!” When we emerged from the end of the tunnel, we were greeted by Emily and Jackson, two were-bears that protect the way to my inner sanctum. They both bow to me and open the double doors. “This is Austin and his is one of my guests until further notice, understood?”
“Yes master” they reply in unison.
We passed through the doorway and they closed the doors behind us. The room we entered was my favorite, the library. I had countless books here with many of them being first editions. It is a large room with a fireplace on one wall. In front of the fireplace there is a long black couch with a chaise lounger on either side. The other three walls are covered with floor to ceiling bookcases. I led him over to the couch and we sat down next to each other.
“Can you now share your story with me?”
Austin nods his head slowly. ”Where should I begin telling you at?”
“Perhaps it would be easiest to start with what happened right after your sister left?”
