Love Bites
Love Bites
Peace.
Peace awaits me now.
But not happiness,
Happiness lies far away from me.
In the warmth of a life giving sun.
They will come,
In search of a monster,
A soulless, unfeeling creature.
They come for me.
But I have loved
Oh, how I have loved
In the darkness,
I have travelled many times.
Returning time and again, to gaze upon her face,
In innocent slumber.
I have watched her wake,
And open her arms
To welcome me.
Outside,
Among the softly swaying trees,
A lone wolf,
Throws back his head.
And a long mournful howl
Echoes through the forest.
Floating heavenwards,
To a pure white moon
Adrift in a sky of black silk.
A canopy of lace
Swirls around our entwined bodies
Like a mist from a dream.
The candle flame
Flickers and dies, as I lower my head
Towards her slender throat.
Her soft sigh,
Like a breeze through a wooded glen,
Warms my throat.
As she arches her neck,
I bare my teeth and bite.
It is time for me to leave.
I look upon her face,
For the last time.
I can never return.
With each passing day,
Those who would kill me,
Draw closer.
How I yearn to take her with me
But to ask would be cruel.
Subjecting her to my life of torment.
The very nature of the Vampyre,
Demands solitude.
So I run.
Run from my love, my desire.
Always aware of Death
Relentlessly tracking down his prey.
So I lie here and wait.
My strength drains,
With each passing moment.
My destroyers are here now.
After centuries of pain,
I will finally sleep quietly in my grave.
But as the hammer rises
My thoughts turn to her
And the way we loved.
Yes, they think I am without feeling,
And although my eyes do not cry,
My heart bleeds tears
For my forbidden love.
Like the ebb and flow of the tides
Erodes the land,
So love dissolves all boundaries.
Love is eternal.
The hammer falls.
Peace.
