Temptation
Chapter 1
It was Lee’s third year at Emory Medical so she knew the routine by now, come set up your rooms and meet you apartment manager on the 15, you had week to settle in, classes started on the 21, then you were officially screwed if you weren’t organized to the T. Lee had six classes this semester and planned on keeping her 4.0 average so that she could keep her scholarship since she had about 3 more years until she reached her goal of a brain surgeon.
Lee walked around pulling things out of boxes and putting them in their prospective places, she wasn’t too worried because she knew they were going to be moved at least once before she was actually pleased with her place. As Lee walked into the kitchen the phone rang, she ran back toward her bedroom, and tripped over a box that was sitting in the doorway.
“Dagnabbit, I have to find that other phone.” She picked up the phone just as the person on the other end was about to hang up, “Hello, Hello.” She yelled into the phone
“Oh hey Le Le, did something happen. You sound out of breath, I thought you might be busy I can call back if you want…….”
Lee smiled to herself as Sharon continued to jabber on without giving a moment to answer her thousands of questions. When Sharon finally took a breath Lee jumped right in “No Sharon I’m not busy” Lee took a seat on her bed and continued “I was just putting some things away you know I hate my place to look a mess, and I’m good. Ok how are you and the children.”
“Hon you are always worrying everyone’s fine, Mariah is still mopping around, she thought you were going to stay home for good this time, but the boys are good they just went out with friends to play some ball and the girls are somewhere playing house, you know how they are.”
“That’s good, well I’d better get back to unpacking if I want to get finished before this evening, oh hey do you know what happened to my other phone it wasn’t in the miscellaneous supplies box.”
“Hum I\'m not sure but if I find it here I will mail it to you. I love you hon. take care of yourself.”
“I will, love you too, tell the kids I miss them already, bye”
As Lee hung up the phone tears welled in her eyes, she really did miss all the children and the never ending noise and chaos, this place was so lonely, over Sharon’s it seemed like you could never get a moment of peace with all the foster children all over the place and Mariah clinging to her like a non-removable tattoo. Lee was very grateful for Sharon and the love and happiness she had brought in to her life , before living at Sharon’s Lee was in a Foster home were the mother was using all the children for there money and having new men over every night. Lee always had nightmares of all the big burly men coming one after the other into the one bedroom house and sleeping with Lisa who was just one bed and curtain away.
Ignoring the phones now constant ringing Lee stood up and shook her body as if trying to shake off her dark thoughts, she then walked determinedly towards her living room filled boxes thinking to her self “why put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”
