Operation ThoughtFlash.
A/N My first modern/future/sci-fi story. I hope you enjoy. Please do review. I like \'em.
Full summary:
Lara finds herself in a strange place with scientists. What happens when she gets caged in a chamber and her DNA is modified tested, and she is the test subject? What secrets will he discover about a top secret govermental, research and test plan called operation ThoughtFlash? But its govermental. It can\'t be bad right?..
Lara sighed as she double-checked the computer. She did see right. A critical flaw in sector 2B.
She had no idea what this strange place was. She was just searching for a job.
Then she got this strange letter and decided to see what she was supposed to do.
She met up at this strange place which looked like a something from a horror movie.
”It’s probably some government research facility,” she thought and chuckled mildly.
She left the computer terminal and went to sector 2B to determine what the failure was.
A door opened, hissing as the pressure was being raised by transferring air from the room behind the door to this one.
A blonde in her seventeen’s stepped in. She had long white hair, and colourful green eyes.
”You, the new here?” A man asked. He opened a drawer and took a datacube up, small digital storage devices. He pushed a few buttons. “Lara, right?” He said.
”Yes. Now if you’ll excuse me,” the blonde said. Lara walked past him.
She looked around in the room. It was naked except for a chair, a computer terminal, a few drawers, and the man sitting on the chair typing on the terminal.
She walked past the room until she saw two other signs. “Sector 2B ahead,” one of them showed and the other was a digital watch. “2120, 21th June, 19.53.”
Laura walked past the signs.
“It’s nearly eight? I really do need to get home soon,” she mumbled to herself, as she walked in another room labelled 2B. She saw a few scientists typing on some terminals and a huge round glass chamber with a brick in it in the middle of the room.
“What’s the problem?” She asked one of the scientists.
”Go in to the glass chamber. Do you see the panels on the top? There’s something wrong with them.” He promptly answered, pushed a few buttons, and a huge door in the glass-chamber opened. Lara walked warily into the chamber sensing something foul. As she walks in to the chamber the door behind her shuts.
Laura panic’s and starts hammering on the glass walls with her hands.
She hears a hypnotic voice. “Lay down on the brick.” Laura gets all sleepy by hearing the voice and as her body is about to lay down on the brick as her mind protests. She slaps herself on the chin to get a bit more awake. “The scientists said that something in the panels up there was wrong. Perhaps I could smash the panels to oblivion,” she thought as she looked up.
She jumped up on the brick, and opened one of the panels. There were all kinds of wires.
She decided to take a handful of them and rip them over as everything turns black.
She woke up lying on the brick. “What happened?” Her mind asked itself. She looked around and saw that the scientists were typing and doing things as mad. She looked around.
She saw a huge screen to the left of her. She read the text on the screen.
-Subject: Lara Rytner.
-Test object.
-Extracting genes.
-Extraction complete.
-Studying genes.
-Study complete.
-Data transferred to sector 8A
”Sector 8A? When I looked at a map over this place there was no sector 8A. Only up to sector 7C.
-Data study complete.
-Data received from sector 8A.
-Proceeding with genetic testing.
-Genetic testing done.
-Strong side of genes determined:
-Quick-learning
-Scientific skilled.
”That’s bullshit. I know nothing about science!” Lara screamed desperate. As she tried to move she noticed her body was tied to the brick with robes.
-Strong-will.
-Determining weak sides of genes.
-Scan done. Weak sides of genes are:
-Dislike for bugs.
-Not fertile.
-Goes desperate quickly.
-Weak muscle structure.
-Scanning....
-Extracting strong sides of genes.
-Extracted.
-Removing weak sides of genes.
-Removed.
-Re-programming DNA.
-DNA synchronized with 127035 other DNA’s.
Laura felt nauseous. They were changing her DNA to make her a superhuman.
Perhaps they were even removing her free-will. She couldn’t take it anymore.
She focused all of her strength to break the robes tying her. After ten minutes of trying to get free of the robes she finally got her hands down her pocket where she always carried a knife. It took a few minutes to cut the robes over and then Lara got on her legs. She jumped on top of the brick opened one of the panels and threw her knife in it. The computers around her started going numb and the big screen spewed out error message after error message. She took the knife out, opened another panel and cut the wires over again. Her unconscious registered one of the scientists outside the chamber screaming. “The things gonna explode. Run!” Lara threw herself down under the brick hoping for the best. She heard a loud explosion and she could hear the glass cracking.
The glass started to crack over different places and after some time all that remained of the chamber were small pieces of shattered glass on the ground. Lara got on her feet and slowly looked around.
Sector 2B existed no more.
She walked out of the ruined room determined to figure out what was going on in that madhouse and determined to find sector 8A.
She looked around. She had no clue where she was. She had just been thinking and walking somewhere. She saw a few paintings and an air ventilation shaft entrance, and two doors.
”Useful,” she thought as she moved on. She could hear footsteps and noises from one of the rooms. She sneaked closer to see what was going on. “The test person in sector 2B has escaped. She’s somewhere nearby. Find her!” Lara looked around and then sprinted to the air ventilation shaft entrance. It was small but she could probably fit there. She put her legs in quickly and pressed the rest of her body in. The door was opened and a few men with guns ran past her.
Lara sighed in relief as she crawled out. She opened the other door. She had no clue what she would find inside.
The door slowly opened and Lara stepped in. A few scientists were conducting experiments on droids. None of the scientists had noticed her. She slowly opened the door again and stepped out of the room. She took most of her clothes off. “Looks like its time for some ‘womanly charm,’ she joked. She was only wearing bra and a shirt leaving nearly nothing to the imagination.
She opened the door again and walked in the room. Most of the scientists had left and there was only one left. She walked in her hips grinding against each other.
The scientist looked over to see what caused the noise. He sent Lara a quick interested glance and asked, “What can I do for you?”
”Does a man like you got any guns for a girl like me so he can collect his reward?” she said seductively and licked her lips. The scientist rummaged through a few drawers before finally picking a gun and handing it to Lara.
The gun was ripped out of his hand by Lara who pointed it at him. “Your reward,” she said and smiled. She fired four shots into his head.
”Enjoy it,” she said as she walked over his corpse.
After a nearer examination of the room Lara found the droids to be functional and she pinpointed the terminal that controlled them. She looked at the terminal and she pressed a few buttons. A giant message came up stating:
-Fingerprint ID needed.
-Put your right hand to the screen
”Shouldn’t be a problem,” Lara murmured and took the corpse of the scientist up and places his right hand on the screen.
-Fingerprint Identified.
-Access cleared.
