~Wait and Bleed~
-I felt the hate rise up in me
Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves
I wander out where you can\'t see
Inside my shell I wait and bleed-
A girl all in black walked out into a meadow. A flock of crows rose out of the tall grass, cawing as they went.
Somewhere in the distance, a raven cried.
In her hand, she carried a gun. The sun reflected off of the chrome on the barrel of the .009 mm.
At the edge of the meadow, she crossed into a thick barrier of trees. The bark on the trees was a dark grey, probably burned by whatever fire had created the meadow behind her.
She ducked under a low willow branch, then stopped, looking at a flat stone in her path.
Allison Terence
Beloved sister and traitorous friend.
1990-2008
-I felt the hate rise up in me
Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves
I wander out where you can\'t see
Inside my shell I wait and bleed-
She sat down, setting the gun on the headstone and staring at it as wave of memeory overcame her.
~*~
-Goodbye!-
She had stared at Allison while the girl spent her last and final visit to her house on the phone to new friends. They\'d called each other sisters, and Allison still seemed to believe that illusion, while under Melissa\'s skin, hell brewed. Melissa had put up with everything. Lies, having her heart break. But when Allison had demanded that Melissa break up with her newfound and first wonderful boyfriend, Melissa had snapped.
Everything that she had hidden, all the pain and anguish, Jacob had healed.
She\'d never give him up.
But most of the pain was now from Allison.
She didn\'t like to be hurt.
-I wipe it off the tile, the light is brighter this time
Everything is 3-D blasphemy
My eyes are red and gold, the hair is standing straight up
This is not the way I pictured me-
Melissa stared at herself in the mirror. Her hair was black now, instead of golden blond. Four streaks of color ran through it. Dark purple and blue, woven into a braid. Then a streak of orange, and one of gold. The colors had held a special significance to her for a very long time.
-I can\'t control my shakes!
How the hell did I get here?
Something about this, so very wrong
I have to laugh out loud, I wish I didn\'t like this
Is it a dream or a memory?-
She drank a glass of water, staring at the gun on the edge of the sink. A moment later, she slammed the glass againt the porcelain, shattering it.
A picture of Allison was in her other hand. She crumpled it slowly, then unfolded it again.
A drop of blood from a cut she hadn\'t noticed fell onto the girl\'s face.
\"I hate you,\" she whispered, tearing it in half.
-I felt the hate rise up in me
Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves
I wander out where you can\'t see
Inside my shell I wait and bleed-
She got into her car and drove down the street. It took her about an hour to get to Allison\'s house. Her parents\' car was gone, and the light in the living room was on.
Melissa glanced quickly into the review to make sure no one was behind her. Her newly contacted eyes shone black with streaks of silver.
She slid into Allison\'s driveway, then opened the door without shutting it.
-Get outta my head \'cause I don\'t need this!
Why didn\'t I see this?
I\'m a victim-Manchurian Candidate
I-have-sinned-by-just
Makin\' my mind up and takin\' your breath away-
She grabbed the key from over the door of the house. Allison\'s dog must be asleep. Usually, he wouldn\'t shut up.
She turned the key, reaching into her pocket for the gun. She had put on a silencer beforehand, just in case.
-I felt the hate rise up in me
Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves
I wander out where you can\'t see
Inside my shell I wait and bleed-
The T.V. was on inside. Allison was sitting there, watching some rerun of South Park. At one time,
Melissa would have joined her. Now she just stood silently, a shadow in the doorway. She studied the rings on her fingerless black gloves, then slowly raised the gun.
\"Allison.\"
Allison spun around, her eyes widening at the gun.
\"Don\'t you dare try to run or I\'ll shoot you in the back. You know I will.\"
\"M-Melissa? What-what are you doing here?\"
\"No more questions. Get outside.\"
Melissa followed Allison out, pressing the barrel of the gun into the small of her back. When she had forced her into the driver\'s side, she walked slowly around the front of the car, never moving the gun\'s aim from Allison\'s head.
-I felt the hate rise up in me
Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves
I wander out where you can\'t see
Inside my shell I wait and bleed!-
When they had reached the meadow, Melissa dragged her out of the car and sat her down in the field. Allison looked up at her for a moment.
\"Are you going to kill me?\"
Melissa was quiet, staring up at the full moon.
\"Yes.\"
Allison nodded slowly, then stared at the ground. \"Why?\"
Melissa\'s head jerked. \"You bitch. You don\'t know why? All this time, you kicked me out into the cold. All this time, I watched you have your new friends, and your wonderful parents, and all you could ever talk about was how much better they were than me. I could never give you anything you wanted, and I almost killed myself trying! You have the fucking nerve to ask why?!\"
Allison cringed a bit, then sighed. \"So I deserve it then.\"
\"Yes. Yes you do. After everything I gave up for you, and everything I did, you told me to give up the most important thing. And I won\'t. Not for you, and not for anyone.\" Melissa stopped, catching her breath. \"Get up.\"
-Goodbye!-
They walked through the woods, and Allison hadn\'t tried to escape once. Melissa suspected that she really wanted to die. Allison had always said she was suicidal, but that she\'d never been brave enough to do anything about it.
-You haven\'t learned a thing
I haven\'t changed a thing
The flesh was in my bones
The pain is always free-
\"Turn around,\" Melissa said, stopping them under a willow tree. There was a big hole, and a pile of dirt beside it.
Allison slowly turned, and little tears were making their ways down her face.
\"I love you,\" she said softly. \"I never meant to hurt you.\"
\"You should have thought of that sooner. I loved you until a week ago.\"
She stopped, closing her eyes. Her finger tightened on the trigger.
\"Goodbye.\"
-You haven\'t learned a thing
I haven\'t changed a thing
The flesh was in my bones
The pain is always free-
Birds rose as the silenced shot echoed through the woods.

Melissa sighed, opening her eyes. She dug a small hole and shoved the gun into it, then got up and brushed the dirt off her pants. She walked back, out through the trees, and through the meadow again.
Jacob was waiting for her, sitting in a black Cherokee.
\"What were you doing out there?\"
She got into the passenger seat and simply said: \"Saying goodbye.\"
-I felt the hate rise up in me

He looked at her for a moment, then nodded and started the car. She had no idea whether he knew what she meant or not. She might tell him one day.
\"Jacob?\"
\"What?\" His dark brown eyes flickered over to her.
\"Please don\'t hurt me.\"
Of course, she didn\'t mean it as a threat. But she wouldn\'t hurt him, not ever.
She would be the next to die.
-And it waits for you!-
